Hi All,
I have found this forum to be so helpful!! I am due in January and planning my NB stash. I didn't CD my first son, but am excited about this one. I have TONS of cloth, but am adding some wool. E-bay has some really cute and good-looking wool longies. How do you use these? Daytime or at night? Prefold/contour with longies on top and t-shirt? Wouldn't their little bellies hang out and be cold? If you put a onesie on under the longies it would wick through, no? Just a thought- they look so cute... :)

Thanks,
Gail

i don't have longies, but i have wool soakers. so i will try to answer!

i don't think i would get longies for a newborn because of the poopsplosion factor. newborn poop gets all over covers (not on clothes, though, like with sposies!) so you will need to be able to wash them fairly easily.

if you do go with a pair or two just for fun-you could probably use them for day or night depending on what kind of diaper you used. you would need a fitted diaper or a contour/prefolds with a snappi or pins. i don't think a snappi is a super idea because it could grab the wool by mistake and damage your precious wool! so a fitted would really be best under longies or any knitted wool covers. you could not use a onesie under the pants. it would get soaking wet and the moisture would creep up onto baby's tummy. ick! but you could do a tee-shirt with longies. (i have access to soft cotton NB tee shirts if you need them.)

but really, i would hold off until baby could wear a medium, or at least a small. just my two cents!

Exactly!

If you want to use the longies earlier, I would suggest putting a thin nylon cover (like Bummis pull-on pants or Snap-EZ nylon cover) and then pulling the longies on over the cover (just like regular pants).
