Not too long ago someone here was asking about a nighttime solution for their heavy wetter. Well, I chimed in saying that DS was a heavy wetter and we used a sposie with a Green Earth cover and never had a leak. DOH!!! Why did I open my big mouth?? Now we've had two nights of soaked jammies (not consecutive nights). For naps we use a HH with a CB insert and a prefold. I have never even tried anything overnight with him. I bought Huggies overnights today, but holy cow, are those suckers expensive!!! I know our other cds would never make it overnight - they don't even make it for a nap. I sold all of my fitteds and wool because DS is such a super squirmer at changes I thought we should go with a one step process. Any suggestions? (I'm going to regret selling my wool covers aren't I???)

Thanks,
~Linda~

Honestly, I think the best combination is a fitted with a wool cover. Don't hate me!! I use a Very Baby Simply Night fitted at night and it is awesome! I recommend them if you ever want to try nighttime fitteds. I also have a large Firefly Sleeptight lying around that you are welcome to borrow.

Ditto on the fitted with wool...sorry about that. Actually, my apronstrings fleece pocket stuffed with LJ night + Zannadu MF towel does actually make it through the night for my soaker. But otherwise it's VB Simply Night or Benjamuffin Nightdreamer with wool cover.

Angie and Eileen, I had a feeling that was the answer! I just ordered a VBSN and I'll probably order the cover tomorrow. The only non-PUL cover we currently own is the Monkey Fleece cover from the fiasco last fall - I couldn't even try to sell that one with the reputation it had around here!!!

Thanks, mamas!!! You're the best! :)

What cover are you planning on ordering? The two that work for me are the wool interlock from Angeldry and an Aristocrat.

I love our wool interlock cover from Bijoubabygear. Nothing gets through that! Otherwise I use a crocheted cover.

I suggest you go to Loveybums.com. There are a ton of fleece and wool covers in stock and the prices are very reasonable. The interlock is nice and thick for a heavy wetter. I don't know much about wool crepe so I can't comment on that but it looks like it would be a nice day/night cover. Wool jersey always works for us at night but my DS is a pretty light wetter so I don't know if it would work for your DS. How much does your DS weigh? When mine was about 25 lbs. I needed an XL cover just to cover the rise of his night diaper. He's now 28 lbs.

I have two crocheted covers and I use them both at night. One is from Pickle Pants. We have a large and it covers the night diaper with room to spare.

The other one I have I bought from appleblossombabies and it was ridiculously cheap. I like it better than the Picklepants because it is really trim even at night. I was afraid it wouldn't fit over DS's night diaper because the large has a rise of only 18", but it is perfect. http://hyenacart.com/AppleBlossom-MommyMade/index.php?category=3

Oh and I hear you on the Monkey butt cover! I don't know what to do with mine. It just sits in the drawer taking up space.

EIleen - question for you :) When Kaya gets up in the AM is her dipe soaked through?

Well, it actually has varied, but for the most part, the front is completely soaked but the back is still somewhat dry. Hemp seems to draw the moisture back more evenly, but otherwise, Kaya generally soaks the front because she's a stomach sleeper. Occasionally, she'll only have it partially wet, which is really weird to me, since I'm so used to it being very wet. Oh, and if it makes any difference, it's not sopping wet, just soaked through.

I got an email from Ruth today that she has some new wool covers so I ordered one of those. The Snap EZ dipes didn't end up working for us, but I'm hopeful about this cover. We'll see.......

I've also email about the Pickle Pants but haven't heard anything yet. Where did you order your two from?? I think we need a new thread - a master list of where to buy different dipe products! :)

Wow, you'll definitely have to report back on the Snap-EZ covers. I love her diapers and I'm kind of curious how her covers will work.

I got my Pickle Pants from cucumberseed.net, as part of a co-op that I ran way back when. I got my Angeldry cover from Angeldry.com and my Aristocrats came from a Canadian company...I'll have to look up the website, but you can get the Aristocrat lots of places, including the swap.

Thanks. THis is how Miss P is too and I was just curious since I know Kaya is a heavy wetter. So, your angeldry and crat hold up OK even to a really wet dipe??

So far so good. I do spray them with the spray lanolin every once in a while, though, so maybe that helps? Oh, and one more thing, and I don't know if this would make a difference, but Kaya sleeps in a fleece sleepsack (but cotton during the warm weather). Last winter, with the Benjamuffin, in particular, maybe because the material is woven, I was able to use the large Benjamuffin with just a fleece sleepsack, no cover. It mostly worked with the VB, but not quite as well, I thought. I haven't done that this winter, though, because the shirt I put her in goes down to the diaper so it would wick upwards.
