I want to try wool, but I'm wary of scratchiness and bulk. Any suggestions of what I might try? Post your favorite links! :)

I can't wait to see suggestions. I was wondering the same thing about scratchiness. I CAN'T stand wool sweaters, they are so itchy to me, so how are they cozy for baby's tender skin???

My absolute favorite for trimness and nonscratchiness are the wool interlock (or stretch wool) covers from Angeldry. They are front velcro and fit over every diaper in our stash, both bulky and trim.

Oh, and if you register for the Great Diaper Hunt before the end of the month, you can get free shipping (they send you a code for specials on participating sites).

any good lanolized cover should be soft (we've used sugarpeas and bumpy wool wraps, bumpy being my favorites) but I've also had the fortune of petting Loveybums wool jersey covers and they are super soft and stretchy to boot. Just can't vouch for the effectiveness as much as our bumpy covers (those are true workhorses).

Loveybums are soft and very trim. They are available at http://www.loveybums.com/
We also use wool pants rather than covers which makes for super-easy changes. ;)

I have to second Eileen's suggestion of the Angel Dry one. I was very wary of wool for the same reasons you said AND I was concerned about having to "hand wash" them. I finally bought an Angel Dry one and it is probably the best thing I've bought since I started cloth diapering! It's super super soft, not at all bulky, has awesome velcro (that was important to me!), and fits like a dream. DS is 13 months and about 22 lbs and has plenty of growing room in a medium, so the fit is very generous.

i still want to send you a loaner pack. we just got crazy and i got way behind. i am so sorry!! i have a wool cover that i got at a consignment sale- i think it is a biobottoms. i am pretty sure it is similar to a bumpy. would be happy to lend. i can actually get it in the mail now, too. let me know what else you still need to try, and if i have it, i will send it along. i am not sure what you have acquired (since i have been sooooooooo slooooooooow) so i don't want to be redundant!

I vote for Staccinator Stretch wool covers. They are advertised as "soft as your favorite tee-shirt"...and they are! They are trim, fit great, and so soft no-one who feels them ever believes me when I tell them it's wool!
They are also very easy to get ahold of. Most main diaper websites sell them in a rainbow of colors. naturalbabies, softclothbunz, and lilbunz.com.

I also love anything made from jersey wool. I have a few from Sugarbums that are buttery soft as well. www.sugarbums.com

The Merino wool Sugarpeas covers are quite soft too. I wouldn't vote for wool flannel for your first try at wool, since it's the least softest. www.diaperware.com or www.natualbabies.com

I assume this is for Ethan? Otherwise I do have a large Staccinator stretch wool cover that you're welcome to try. We're not using it right now, so it's just sitting around collecting dust. :) And I do have a bumpy wool as well if you want to try that out. That one is a medium, I believe, so it would probably be closer to what would fit Ethan.

I second the merino Sugarpeas recommendation! My daughter has been wearing her size mediums since she was about 5 months old and we still have a few snap settings to go before she outgrows them. They're really soft and do a great job for us. I think I got mine at www.softclothbunz.com.

What you want to look for is wool jersey, it's not scratchy and it is very trim.

My favorites are at http://www.righteousbaby.com

If you like knitted, look at bjmarketplace on eBay but be aware that the sizing is totally random, and they are not good for a heavy wetter or overnight. They are snuggly soft.
