View Full Version : Aristocrat sliding down at night--help!

For the past month we had been successfully using a fitted diaper (usually a size 1 Little Beetle with doubler) and small Aristocrats cover at night--no leaks even after 8 hours. However, my 14 lb 3.5 month DS was swaddled.

Last week we discontinued the swaddling and are now putting him in a sleepsack at night. Being unswaddled, he seems to move around a lot more. For the past week the diaper and cover have been sliding down (revealing plumber's crack!), and he's been peeing right out of the diaper. We tried putting him in a onesie under the sleepsack, but it doesn't seem to help "anchor" the diaper/cover.

I don't know what to do... Is the solution is to use a tighter-fitting cover (perhaps one with snaps) during the night? Or should I look for a larger, higher-rise diaper for nighttime (the Little Beetles are lower rise). The Little Beetles work great during the daytime, however.

Please advise :)!

Thank you very much,
Kristin

For me when ours start to slide down in the am is when I wash... They stretch out some, but if the onsie is not helping I am not sure...

If the onesie is not helping, I would suggest a different cover before I suggest a different diaper. I was going to suggest a footed onesie, but that may not work in the same way. We loved using the Aristocrat, but as Kaya's size changed (i.e. slightly thinner) we did notice that occasionally the diaper would peek out and then we would get wicking (her night time diapers are higher rise, so we didn't get pee over the top, just wicking around the legs). Our favorite night time cover is actually the Angeldry stretch wool cover. It's fairly inexpensive, it has very strong velcro, and it fits over all of Kaya's diapers (high and low rise). It's not "tight" because it's stretchy, but it conforms to the shape of the diaper better than the Aristocrat did. The plus side of this cover is that it's thin enough to use during the day as well (which we use very often).

Go to Angeldrydiapers.com and you'll be able to find these as stretch wool (or wool interlock) covers.
