um, duh liza. it isn't the baby or the dipe. it is the ELASTIC

the elastic on my super old babyblankets (from when rebecca was making them!) and some of my FBs is SHOT. so do i tear it out and replace it? or will they wick from adding more needle holes? anyone replaced elastic? (obviously, i have the ability to do it! not worried about that!)

I haven't replaced elastic, but I have made some PUL pockets from scratch. Make sure to use a small ballpoint needle and the longest stitch possible so you don't have many holes. The elastic itself is sewn to the seam allowance, so those holes are not a worry, it is the resewing of the casing that would cause problems. You can always try drying them on super hot a couple of times to reseal the holes, or adding NikWax.

Can you just do a couple and see how they turn out? Not much to lose if you can't use them as-is anyway.
