I'm getting ready to switch to cloth and probably will try a few of each, but have no idea which to try. I was thinking Fuzzibunz, but not sure if DD's thighs are too chunky? And I don't even know where to start in fitteds! There are so many! Here are DD's measurements.

Waist: 17.5"
Thigh: 12"
Rise: 12.5"

Weight: 18lbs

I took the waist measurement at the top of her dipe, thigh along the dipe path, and rise belly button under crotch to corresponding point on her back. Hope thats the right way to measure! She is a medium wetter, I'd say, and still mostly BF so poo is not solid. She has dramatically slowed her growth since 6 mo so hopefully she won't grow right out of her dipes! Thanks for any recs!

If her poo is still of the leaky variety, you may want to hold off on pockets for a little while longer. But that does depend on the shape and size of your baby and how often she's pooping. FBs never worked for Kaya--I could never get the fit to work right, but they come on the swap often enough, they would be worth trying. Personally, with summer coming up, and with your daughter still in the leaky poop stage, I would recommend good fitteds plus some wool or nylon covers. A good windpro (lightweight) fleece wrap (Angeldrydiapers is my favorite) would also be easy to take care of and cool enough for summer.

If she's a medium wetter, you could try something inexpensive like Motherease One-Size. You can easily add doublers to make it more absorbent. My favorite fitted diapers, though, are the Bijou Baby Gear and the Momandmepouch Sam's Fitted. With your daughter's current measurements, I think she would fit in both a small and medium Sam's fitted (although the medium would probably require crossover snaps) and a medium Bijou Baby Gear. Both would fit your daughter for a LOOOOOONG time if they worked well--but both seem to get good reviews around here for fitting a large variety of kids. FWIW, Kaya can fit a medium and large bijou baby gear and a small and medium Sam's fitted. Right now she is ~25 pounds, maybe 19-20" waist, 11-12" thighs, and 14-15" rise? It's been awhile since I've measured her, but that's sort of where she is right now. She's 2+ years old, so yes, these diapers have fitted her for a looooooooong time. She wears both medium and large Angeldrydiaper covers (both the wool and the fleece) and I suspect the medium would have started working a long time back.

HTH!

Thank you Eileen! That gives me lots to look at :) To clarify: I have so far just looked at the BBG site, are you talking about the customs? Is the advantage of custom dipes to get the exact combo of color and material and everything that you want, or are they custom-fitted to your child? And I would put a cover on top of that beautiful dipe? :) Where do I find Momandmepouch's dipes? And you recommend the Angeldrydiaper covers on top of the BBG and Momandmepouch fitteds, is that right? I think I need to go re-read the CD101 thread about 5 more times :) Thank you so much though! I really appreciate the help! I wish I could start experimenting with cloth today!

You're welcome. For the Bijou Baby Gear, I don't know what her instock looks like or if she's taking customs. But you can e-mail her and ask her. Personally, I like her Basic Hemp diapers. You can choose the trim and snap color, but I like the plain diapers without extra stuff. The only thing that is nice is if you dye the diapers, but otherwise, the hemp diapers are stretchy enough to fit a large range of sizes and they're cheaper than some of the other diapers you can get. Of course, a lot of people love her organic cotton ones or her organic cotton velour. Personally, I just stick with hemp because it works well for my heavy wetter.

For Sam's fitted, you can go to momandmepouch.com. She is taking a limited number of customs, but basically, you just e-mail her and ask her if she'd be able to handle an order of X number of diapers/doublers.

And yes, I just use my fleece or wool angeldrydiaper covers. The velcro makes the sizing very adjustable. The wool cover is stretchier, so that makes sizing even easier, but the fleece ones are easier to clean off poop if you get it on. One nice thing I like about her interlock wool covers is that I have tossed them into the wash on delicate warm or cold (with baby laundry) and then just sprayed with lanolin to relanolize. It's nice that I can machine wash these wool covers. :)

Thanks again! :) I forgot to ask you, I've seen you post that you use a Diaper Dekor for your cloth dipes. We already have a Diaper Dekor and so I was wondering what pail liner you have, and if the liner can be used outside of the Dekor as well? I'm thinking, right now we'll keep using the Dekor for sposies (and use up our refills!) and just hang the cloth liner, then when we're all switched over to cloth, use the liner in the Dekor. Just want to make sure we get the right one though (we have the normal size Dekor, not the plus) Thanks!

I have the normal size Dekor as well and I just made the measurements and asked Ruth at Snap-EZ to make pail liners for me. She made them with an umbrella closure, so yes, we can use it outside the pail as well. I had the refills (a ton of them before I discovered cloth liners), so for quite a few months, I would empty out the bags into the washer and then toss the bags. I always regretted all that plastic being tossed into the trash, but of course, I wasn't about to stick the plastic bags into the wash! Anyway, Ruth may still have the measurements for the bags she made for me. They're actually bigger than what the pail requires so that if I remove the bag from the pail, the diapers all go down and the bag can be easily closed. I actually like that. But you can make your own measurements and decide how you want the design (my opening is smaller and made to fit snugly over the inner part of the pail and then it opens up so that the diapers can "fill" the pail and then some). The broadening out was partly my idea and partly Ruth's idea and I like it.

I know other WAHM sites also make custom pail liners...is it Happy Tushies?
