Fleece for wipes?

Have I read somewhere that most people make wipes out of fleece? Joanne's by us is closing and has all fabric 60% off. I want to try making wipes.
What should I look for in the fabric?

i would actually not use fleece, as it doesn't absorb. it will wipe stuff off. but i think velour is the best. joann's doesn't have very nice velour, but you may be able to find one or two colors there that you like.

i know many folks use fleece to make diaper liners, as in the keep the moisture off of baby.

sorry, i sound all negative... not sure why! many do like fleece for wipes.

The only thing fleece is good for in wipes is getting a poopy mess off. It really does work well. But Liza is right--it won't absorb the solution very well, so it's not really a great all purpose wipe. I would stick to velour, sherpa, or even flannel.

I actually have quite a few fleece/velour wipes and don't mind them at all. They are great for poop because they rinse off so easily. I just use the fleece side for the poop and the velour side to finish up.

That's not a bad idea. The one wipe I have that's fleece is fleece on both sides. The reason using fleece even occurred to me is because when we were using fleece liners, DH would use the fleece liner to wipe off the poop and I realized how well it worked and how easy it was to spray off afterwards.
