inserts and doublers

Another newbie question. In looking through all the great CD sites during The Hunt, I'm not sure what the difference is between an insert and a doubler. Is a doubler a type of insert, used primarily for night time, trips, etc?

What are your favorite inserts? Are they all, generally speaking, just about the same if of the same material?

an insert goes into a pocket diaper to make it absorbant. a doubler can be used in any diaper to make it more absorbant. many folks use a doubler with prefolds, or with fitteds.
