I really have no info on potty training methods and searching the internet has been of little to no help. DD unexpectedly started using the potty this past weekend and now I have some questions. Some of the advice I have gotten seems to conflict with my gut feelings and/or practicality. I don't want to screw this up since DD seemed so interested initially. It's now been 4 days and today, she is not so enthusiastic about it. I think maybe it's becoming a little stressful for her.

I want to continue along this path, but I'm trying not to pressure her or push her as I'm afraid that will cause her to stop. However, the things I think I need to do to make it less stressful may sabotage the whole thing (or at least that's what some people have told me). I've decided I need to read some books and make my own decision. I did that with her sleeping and it made life so much easier.

Please share any favorites with me.

Thank you,

I read "Diaper-Free Before 3," which was full of good info. Honestly, though, it helped me start the process, but the rest of our process has just been parental instinct and absorbing what the wise folks on this board have to say. :)

I found [link:www.amazon.com/gp/product/0764103431/104-1198840-7503969|Keys to Toilet Training] to be a great, basic book with practical suggestions. However, like Marisa, we used some of the info in this book along with parental instincts, knowledge of our child, and suggestions from people here.

Thank you both. That is just what I'm looking for - something to get me started. I did this same thing with sleep issues. Read some books, get advice here and from friends and go with my instincts (i have to say instinct is usually the strongest influence!). I get a couple of books, read through them and pick out what works for us. I'm just the type of person who likes to read on a topic, then decide what info is valuable to me. I appreciate your suggestions. :-)
