Hi everyone, I'm Natalie, 32 years old, live in Phoenix AZ and expecting my first child pretty much any day now (so glad I don't have to go through the whole summer being pregnant, it's already hitting over 100 degrees!). I've posted a few times on different boards, don't know why I never came to this one before. All my friends are single or married w/o children so I've spent a ton of time doing research on products, wish I'd discovered this forum months earlier but better late than never.

This has all been so new to me but I've learned a lot about pregnancy and I'm sure I'll learn a lot more about caring for a newborn from all of you over the next while.

I know what it's like for all your friends to be single or unmarried! It tends to dampen your baby enthusiasm a bit! Welcome!

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone. 6 days to go!

Lisa, I'm in Ahwatukee so actually very close to you. It's so hot I can't wear my wedding ring anymore!

You're probably home with the little one already, but I thought I'd say welcome as well! A friend of mine started a moms group thing in Scottsdale b/c she, too, didn't have any mommy friends; let me know if you're interested and I'll put you in touch with her.

Actually, the little one hasn't arrived yet, probably thinks it's too hot to come out right now. :) But thanks Caroline, I'll keep your offer in mind!

Oh my, you must be so ready!!!! It is sooooo hot, and I'm not even 9+ months pregnant!!!

Which hospital are you delivering at? We delivered at Desert Sam. and were very happy with the staff and facility.

By the way, I used to teach in Ahwatukee - Kyrene School District. I loved it, but love being a SAHM even more!!

Good luck in your labor. I can't wait to hear about the little arrival (hopefully soon!)

Stay cool!

It's hot and I want to go to the pool this weekend but I'm worried to risk it at this point :-(

I'm delivering at Chandler Regional, I considered Desert Sam and have heard good things about it but Chandler's a little closer, the birthing center is fairly new and dh and I like the fact that it's a little smaller/less busy/can actually find a parking spot in the parking lot! No ice water birthing baths, though, I'm afraid :)

I have a friend that works at Manitas - wouldn't happen to be the same school you worked at? Probably not, Manitas is on the other side of I-10.

I hear you on Chandler Reg. not being as busy. Parking was HORRIBLE at Desert Sam. I had to go straight to L&D after my appointment at 38 weeks due to very high blood pressure and it took me 45 min. to find a place to park. I'm sure that helped with the blood pressure :-). A few of my friends have delivered at Chandler Reg. and were very happy.

I taught at Milenio and Esperanza, but know some of the teachers at Manitas.

Hope you're able to get some rest these last days (or hours!!!)

Lisa
