I just wanted to post that after 41 weeks of gestation, Cervidil, eleven hours of unmedicated Pitocin labor (not by choice, the unmedicated part), a c-section, and followed by 2 days in the NICU, my son Adam arrived on December 8 at 4:51 p.m. 7 pounds, 13 ounces, 20 1/2 inches.

We are all happy, healthy, and thrilled to be at home.

Congratulations Teri!! I'm sorry it wasn't the ideal labor/delivery but it sounds like you both came through it like champs. I can't wait to see pics.

Congratulations! Your story sounds like my first labor. Now it's time to update your signature! I love the name Adam. It was a top contender if we had a boy.

Thank you, everyone! It was an ordeal (apparently, when I was being wheeled out of recovery and into the NICU to see Adam for the first time, I blubbered to my mother that the whole thing was "terrible," and IT WAS), and while I went into the induction knowing that a c-section was a possibility, there is nothing that can prepare you for the NICU, and I say that having volunteered in the NICU at Atlanta's public hospital for two years and being familiar with the darkness, the bells, the monitors, and the alarms. Adam was in an oxygen tent for his first 24 hours, and we weren't able to hold him until after he was weaned from the tent.

But now, here he is -

Congratulations, Teri!! I'm sorry that it didn't all quite go as planned, but the end result - a happy healthy baby and mama - are all that truly matter!
