Hi -

This actually answers my own post below, but I found a website - Tots and Bottoms - that sells the Hug-a-Bub for $89 (not the greatest bargain compared to eBay, but not bad) with FREE SHIPPING until the end of the month - yes, that's the end of tomorrow, March 31st. The home page is http://www.totsandbottoms.com/index.htm and the direct link to the carriers is http://www.totsandbottoms.com/products.asp?id=32.

Better news, they have stock in a lot of colors that the other websites (including www.cottoncradles.com - I read that Lisa is very nice, but she is currently out of stock on several colors) and EnchantmentParenting).

Navy/Rasberry (what I got, I hope the dark wrap makes me look skinny!)
Navy/Jade
Denim/Denim
Black/Black
Berry/Hazel
Sage/Hazel

I ordered and got a nice email from the WAHM who runs the website, Tots and Bottoms, which she calls a WAHM boutique. Her name is Bree Norlander and she was super nice. Told me she was shipping it out tomorrow and that she thought I would love it. Nice to have a personal touch and a speedy delivery!

Wanted to pass it on to all of you, since it seems that she's just starting her business. If it's a good deal, it could help her get going! Thanks for everyone's advice and patience on carriers - I'm glad I consulted y'all!

Alexa,

How are you liking your HaB? I'm beginning to make my final decision and this is one of the last types I'm considering.

Thanks for any feedback.

Not Alexa, but wanted to tell you I LOVE my hug-a-bub!! It's super comfortable and secure. My DD likes it too. The one disadvantage is that it can get hot having all that fabric wrapped around you when it is hot outside. Other than that, it's great!

Thanks for the feedback!

All that cloth was what orignally made me disregard it, at first it looked a little 'straight jacketish' to me, lol. But then once I kept seeing all the happy mommies with it here and the more I looked at pics of it, it's grown on me.

I'm in Atlanta, so the summer will be scorching here, I think I'll wait on the HaB till the fall.

I think what I'm going to do is order a Basic Stretch Sling from Hotslings, for now. The price is affordable for me and this way if the babywearing doesn't work for me I won't feel like I wasted too much money.

How does the Basic Stretch Sling in Khaki sound to you? You can see it at http://www.hotslings.com, just click on Basic Slings and scroll down a bit.

I've never tried that particular one, but it looks similar to a pouch, which I like. It should do fine in hot weather. If you want reviews of it, you can look at www.thebabywearer.com (you have to join, but it's free) or the babywearing yahoo group http://groups.yahoo.com/group/babywearing/

Good luck finding the perfect carrier!

Hi there -

You know, I really struggled with it and am probably going to send it back. First, I just couldn't get it to be tight enough to support her well. She kept sliding down and the wrap kept sliding up. I think it may have to do with my long torso and difference between my waist and hips (fairly considerable - I'm not overweight, just 5' 11" and fairly hippy). Secondly, I didn't find it an easy on and off b/c of how long the pieces are to wrap. Now, I wasn't a sling or wrap person before, so I'm going from the "click and go" Baby Bjorn, so that probably accounts for that. Finally, I was hot. We live in Baltimore and it was in the 80's last weekend. I couldn't deal with all the layers and went with an old pouch I had (cute one from hotslings - http://www.hotslings.com/store/ - she made it for me in a blue toile) for my newborn and used a HipHugger pouch (not comfy, but does the job and looks cute) for my toddler.

I really loved the idea and know it has gotten rave reviews from everyone who uses one. I just couldn't make it a good fit for me!

Hope that helps - good luck. Don't let it prevent you from getting it if you want it. I would make sure that you can return it if it doesn't work.

Thanks! Sorry it didn't work out for you.

I actually am going to go with a Hotsling myself. I like the sound of the Basic Stretch Sling she makes. I'm probably going to get it in Khaki. I'm glad to hear you sill like your Hotsling, thanks!

I have never worn a sling before and am totally new to the concept so starting off with this one for 20 dollars seems smart. Plus I have heard good things about it!
