Hi all!

We are planning our first trip to Disney with the wee one and, in addition to our stroller, will be taking a sling/carrier of some sort for the wait in line, or perhaps while on some rides too. We are going in April, so heat shouldn't be an issue.

With that said, what would you recommend? We have a Baby Bjorn, which I feel is very secure but a PITA to get her in and out of. I also have a New Native, and have recently mastered the Kangaroo carry (DD likes this). This is not too "secure" but certainly easy in, easy out. I have also heard much talk about Hip Hammocks. Would you recommend one of those? Or will I be able to figure out the hip carry with my NN?

Sorry to ramble on. As you can see, any and all advice appreciated!!!

Hip Hammock - blech. Stick with a sling (you can search for lots of bad reviews and a few good reviews on these types of carriers).

I'd go with something that is "poppable", easy to get her in and out of. Also something comfy since you might carry her more than you think (fussy times, etc.). For an 8 month old, anything in a hip carry is perfect and very, very easy. Or, consider a mei tai type carrier - a little bit of a learning curve, but still quite easy to use.

You may want to check out the cotton adjustable pouch at www.kangarookorner.com - a very "popable" design :)

In your position, I would probably try a KKAFP if you can get it soon enough to feel comfortable using it securely. If my DS were a little smaller and I hadn't just spent all of my $$ going to cloth diapers, I would probably try one of those.

I also really like the mei tai carriers. I just got one in Dec for my almost 25 pound DS and I LOVE it. Used it to get on and off the airplance by myself while toting his convertible car seat and diaper bag. He likes it too. It does take a bit of learning, particularly if you want to try the back but I mastered the front carry pretty quickly and it is very comfy for me.

You should definitely be able to figure out the hip carry with the NN. Check out the instructions page on Hotslings.com. Towards the bottom, Kristen demonstrates how to do a hip carry.

Darien has a video of her demonstrating it.

The key is to have a perfectly fitting pouch.
