Sewing an ABC

Hi! I decided that I just can't afford to buy another sling, but really wanted to try out a Kozy or similar ABC. I found directions for making one on Jan's site (http://crafts.sleepingbaby.net/asian.html), and another she links to (http://webpages.charter.net/dshiel0742/FrankenKozy.htm). It looks pretty easy to sew one, so I think I will give it a try. Just wanted to see if anyone has followed these patterns or has any tips or tricks to add? Wider or skinnier straps? Curved or straight top?
