View Full Version : Pouches for an 8 mo old?

Hi there,

I'm the proud mama of an 8mo ds who loves to be carried! (He's a
hefty 19 lbs.) I bought a Zolowear sling when he was 2mo and had
colic. If I could do it over I would have had that when I came home
from the hospital!

The sling is wonderful, but I think we need to try something
different. I want something that I can leave in the diaper bag and
pop him into when I'm shopping and he fusses in the stroller/shopping
cart so I can finish what I'm doing. I bought a hip carrier but it
doesn't really fit that need since it takes more time than I'd like
to put it on and get him into it. (Maybe I'm just slow!) I brought
the sling with me the other day but it left red marks on his little
legs since he was wearing shorts. Here in Atlanta, that will be an
everyday thing!

So, what do you think? From what I've read, a pouch would fit in my
bag and is quick to get him into. Do you recommend any with padded
leg rails?

TIA,

If you get a pouch definitely get one with padded leg rails. Since you are in Atlanta, and heat will be an issue, you might also want to try a rebozo-length wrap, like an EllaRoo, or a gauze wrap. Wraps are very "poppable" and extremely comfortable. You might want to browse through http://thebabywearer.com to see all your options (I should warn you that there are many, and that you are likely to end up with more carriers than you ever intented, LOL).

Maybe a Hotsling is your answer? www.hotslings.com

I have a Mom-N-Me pouch that I LOVE LOVE LOVE, but it's probabaly too hot (and they are relatively hard to come by anymore).

Thanks for your advice. I'm not really into wraps...I am overwhelmed by the thought of using all that fabric! I think I'm gonna try a hotsling. Anybody want to trade one with the padded leg rail for a Mei Hip Carrier?

There is a baby swaping group on yahoo you might want to try and make that offer to = to trade or buy/sell.

Good luck!
