View Full Version : DS only likes the Baby Bjorn?

So, I have all kinds of slings/pouches...DS loves to be held, but my arms were/are killing me and I needed something. He hates all of them! I finally broke down and bought a Baby Bjorn at Babies R Us and he's been asleep in it almost ever since.

I was thinking there were so many options other than the Bjorn that many people never came across (since they didn't have this board to steer them in all those directions!) and I thought there were so many BETTER options, but...

Did anyone else find they ended up with the Bjorn after all?

And, where is the best place to sell all the other ones?!

Maybe he would like them better when he's older?

Right now I have a:

Maya ring sling

Maya pouch (which we did take a walk in, but I actually think it's way too big)

Zolo ring sling (beautiful, and we did a walk once but I washed it and it looks awful)

Zolo pouch

Kangaroo Korner fleece pouch (worked okay, but he was way too hot!)

Hotsling (my last attempt at a pouch figuring he wouldn't be so hot)

I know I have way too many. Even *I* think so, let alone DH! But I'm thinking of trying the fleece pouch and the Hotsling again, maybe? But he HATED the Maya sling. Is eBay a good place to sell them? Would he maybe like them when he gets older/bigger?

You can try selling them at our own swap group http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BBB-Swap/?yguid=162225211 or you can try the babywearing group http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BabywearingSWAP/?yguid=162225211

I would hang on to a couple of slings just because your DS might like them later. How old is your DS? Eventually he will get too big for the Bjorn. I find the Ergo or Sutemi to be very comfortable. If I had to choose I would go with the Ergo just because it has a better back carry. They can be used from about 4 months on.

ETA: Try ironing your Zolo. That should make it good as new.

Last night while trying to fall asleep I suddenly thought sihould try and iron the Zolo sling--thank you for seconding that. I would've probably forgotten.

DS was six weeks old yesterday. I didn't realize the Ergo was similar to the Bjorn, I just figured it was a sling too. I need a very easy (read user-friendly, very dense mommy) carrier because I can't figure it out if it's too tricy. I had a lot of trouble with the ring slings for awhile!

I'll keep trying and try selling some of these off. Thanks for the help. I don't think I'll buy anything new for awhile though. See how he takes to what I already have.

Thanks!

Same thing here. :)

My kids LOVE the Bjorn more than any other carrier we've ever tried or owned. They were never the type of babies to enjoy being swaddled or held in the cradle hold - they like to be upright and facing out! ;)

My kids just prefer to have their legs free and able to kick all around.
They also don't care for having their legs stretched around me - they like them to dangle and they like to be right up on my chest.

They also like to face forward (and not on my back unless in the Kelty where they can clearly see over my head with no obstructions).

Luckily for me, the Bjorn is quite comfy - more comfy than the slings and pouches we have owned - so It wasn't like I was compromising my comfort for my babies preferences.

My kids never grew to like any other carrier but the bjorn - except the big backpacks - but you really can't wear those anywhere by hiking (at least ours ...)
