How old does a baby need to be before it is safe to do a back carry? DS is 3 mths and loves to be carried around the house in a sling. I would be able to get more done if I could carry him on my back, but I am not sure how old he should be before I do this and what kind of carrier would be both comfortable and easy to use. Thanks for any duggestions!

I carried my baby on my back when he was 6 weeks old. I had MTs and I kept his feet in the MT body. The MT body was tall enough that it also gave enough head support. You can check out:

I also use wraps such as the Ellaroo or Didymos. I find the strap carry and the Tibetan to be the fastest and easiest. I also loved that my little one could see over my shoulder.

I've been looking into pouches for the last few days, and I've seen at least 2 of the WAHM's making pouches say on their websites that you shouldn't try a back carry with a baby under 15 or 18 months because they can lean over and fall out. With other carrier styles, maybe it's safer at a much younger age.
