Has anyone had any experience with one of these?

http://www.babyuniverse.com/pro/baby/83516/UrbanBabyCarrier-Yellow.html

It looks exactly like what I need - I have a 20 lb 4-mo-old who loves the Baby Bjorn, and hates to be snuggled in a sling (I have a Maya wrap that brought on screaming fits). I was thinking of a hotsling, but I don't like how it wraps around you (it summer here 3/4 of the year, and that extra layer will get hot). I haven't found any negative reviews online.

Thoughts?

Stacy,

Wondering the same thing. Did you purchase this? If so, do you like it? I was thinking that it might be a little rough on the shoulder!!

It looks a lot like an Ergo, but with one (uncomfortable looking) shoulder strap, rather than two. I think for a baby as heavy as yours, I would consider getting something that will distribute the weight onto two shoulders and also has the possibility of being worn on the back. I think this carrier looks like it would really eat into your neck and shoulder!

Here are some reviews, positive and negative:

Here's a link to the Ergo, which we use and LOVE with our 22lb. daughter. It can be worn front, back or hip.:

You might want to ask in the babywearer forums if anyone has any experience with this product. There are some real babywearing experts over there. It's a forum similar to this one where you can ask questions.

I ended up NOT getting the Combi. There was just too little info on it out there, and I didn't want the hassle of getting something that didn't work.

I ended up getting 2 carriers. I got the Hotsling for me - it works WONDERFULLY as a hip carry. I have taken DS on numerous trips and hikes now (he's 22 lbs) and it hasn't hurt my back or shoulders. It folds up neatly in my diaper bag when I'm not using it, and I can take him in and out in 3 seconds flat - no adjustments needed.

The second carrier I got for DH - the Sutemi Pack. It's also worked very well, distributes the weight to the hips. The only thing is DS cannot be forward facing - but he really hasn't minded at all, and will go to sleep against DH's chest in it (it has this little band that slides on and supports the head in case the baby does want to nap).

I would highly recommend either one of these carriers. Out of the 2, if it's you only and not DH using it, I would prefer the Hotsling.

What an interesting update! It sounds like you got two great carriers!! :D

The Sutemi can also be used on the back, right?

Sutemi can be front, back or hip carry. We haven't tried the hip or back with it yet.
