Maybe I'm asking a repeat question, but has anyone on this BB used the Elizabeth Lee Nursing Classics #202 pattern to make a sling? Here it is: http://www.elizabethlee.com/patterns/nc202.htm

What did you think of it? Do you know of any patterns you feel are better (& why)? I want my aunt to make a sling for me and this was the pattern that came up when I did an Internet search. I bought some plain, non-slippery, double-ply silk while in Thailand, and I would like to use it for a sling. I am also in the dark about what sort of rings to buy, so any input is welcome!

I am pg with my first baby. I want to try using a sling, but I need to make sure that the sling won't aggravate my back. I have chronic trigger point pain & muscle stiffness in my upper back near the shoulder blades, courtesy of improper lifting techniques and lifting too-heavy patients in the hospital (the story of every nurse, it seems). Let me know your $0.02!

Thanks!

L.

I don't sew at all, although I wish I did, but I know that I have heard that the patterns from Jan Andrea's website are great. http://www.sleepingbaby.net/jan/index.html?Baby/index.html

I own one of her ringslings and it's fabulous. The shoulder design is great for evenly spreading the weight of the baby across your back rather than digging into one place.

HTH and congrats!

Ditto the PP about the free patterns on Jan's website linked above. Her pleated shoulder design is very easy on the back. She also has info. on where you can buy rings and what kind are best.
