I just got a PS in the poplin stretch ('Ono fabric). It's totally cute & I love how it is so portable. I have a couple questions though cause I'm really new to carriers. I wore it today for about 45 minutes in the grocery store w/DD#2. I got a medium (based on the sizing info on the website) & it seemed like it kept slipping down off my shoulder. Is this normal?? Also, the side of my neck (side where the pouch was on my shoulder) was a little sore. Is that to be expected since it's new? And will it get better?

I'm wondering now if I should've gotten one of the jersey ones? But I'm not sure if the jersey would stretch out after awhile. Also, what's the deal with the "padding" that some of the styles list? I saw that on the hotslings site too. Should I have considered padding?

Any help/insight would be much appreciated! :)

Can you post a pic of you wearing it? It sounds much too big for you, but maybe not. You don't really want the shoulder of the sling so close to your neck either, put it more over the ball of your shoulder (which won't work if it is too big for you, but will work if it is the right size).

Ok, here's a picture. I actually had it a bit more centered on my shoulder but it slipped like I was talking about. Am I doing something wrong???

Look at the tips on this page - especially the pics of the sling that is too big, and of the shoulder flip (which may do the trick for you).

Here's another pic of the shoulder flip:

And once again:

My gut feeling is that she is too low (so the sling is too big) but it could also be because she is still so tiny.

I think the sling is just too big - a good rule of thumb regardless of the baby's size is that the bottom of the sling with baby in it should be about at your belly button. This looks like it's a good couple of inches below that. A shoulder flip might help, as Lori mentions, but overall I think you probably just need a smaller size. Depending on what material your sling is made out of, you might be able to shrink it in the dryer...but of course that can be risky! Good luck!

Ok, thanks ladies. I'm going to try to wash/dry it. I also e-mailed goo-ga.com & they said it should shrink about 1" in the dryer & also agreed it looks a bit too big. Hopefully that'll help resolve the problem. Well, that & me getting a little more experienced with it!

I really like the idea of the jersey fabric too, I may just have to get another! I can see how baby wearing can get addictive! :P

Kristine,
I had a similar experience, except it was with the lucky baby. I was kind of in between sizes, but went with the bigger size, the medium. It was a bit big, similar to yours...and it did shrink in the dryer. Not a ton, but enough to make a difference. I also do the shoulder flip, which helps.

Sizing can be so hard with these pouches, but it is so important when they are non-adjustable!

And hey, you look great mama, for just having a baby! ;)
