DD is 4 weeks old, and my peanut shell pouch arrived in the mail today. Until now, I've been using the baby bjorn (which is difficult on my back after about 30 minutes.) DD loves the baby bjorn, and she often falls asleep in it. She wasn't happy when I put her in the peanut shell today, so I had to put her in the bjorn to get her to calm down. I'm not sure if I should just keep her in the peanut shell for a while and hope that she eventually calms down (since I often have to jump and dance around in the bjorn to make her happy). She's very colicky and she loves to be held very close to my body (either in my arms or in the bjorn) and jiggled around. I though she'd love the pouch. Maybe it will just take time for her to warm up to it. Anyone have similar experiences or advice? Thanks!

What hold are you using? My DS2 really likes tummy-to-tummy, not so much the cradle hold.

And just for open discussion, my DD hates tummy to tummy and loves cradle hold. (Everybory's different, even babies!)

My baby is 11 weeks old and it took her a while to warm up to the Hotsling pouch. She liked the Baby Bjorn but only if we were moving, if I stopped walking or sat down she wasn't happy! It has never hurt my back, and she was a big baby (9 lbs at birth) so I guess I am lucky.

Anyhow, I just tried her in the pouch for a few minutes every couple of days. I took a break from it for a while, actually, just didn't think of it. When I put her in it again (over 8 weeks old) she was really happy. I was doing tummy to tummy since she really hated the cradle hold. Her head was alwasy twisted to the side. She likes to look around at what is going on or at me anyhow.

I was at a wedding Saturday and wore the hotsling through most of the reception - it was awesome! My back had been hurting from holding her so much and I realized I had brought it with me. She fell asleep and was such a cutie.

Good luck! Hope she ends up loving it!

When my daughter was that young, she was fine with cradle hold or tummy to tummy, as long as you were bouncing her. The bouncing that worked best was on the exercise ball we have. That actually worked better than bouncing while standing, which is what my son preferred.

Walking also worked well with both of my children, but with my daughter it was extended walking (as in, taking a walk around the block) that worked, not just pacing the room.

I found the tummy-to-tummy hold worked best with Mila. I suggest walking and talking to her when you first start putting her in the pouch and as PP said, try going somewhere different rather than pacing the floors at home. The change of scenery can help to distract the baby. www.kangarookorner.com has some good suggestions for wearing a baby in a pouch.
