I've tried so hard to love my zolowear ring sling. It was great when DS was a small newborn. But now that he's a strapping (90th percentile) 3.5 month old, it just isn't doing it for me. I'm very petite (5'2"), and while I did get my sling sized correctly, I am finding that there's just not room for all the extra sling fabric on my shoulder. It either cups my shoulder too much, making it hard to raise my arm, or it doesn't cup it enough, leaving me with gobs of fabric up by neck. I find it hard to adjust, especially with a very strong and wiggly baby. I've got a short torso, and feel like I don't have enough real estate to properly spread out the fabric across my back. My back ends up crampy and sore after a few minutes. I've watched all the videos and practiced in the mirror, and I just am not happy with the fit. It just seems like there's SO MUCH fabric.

DS loves being it, so I'm looking for options - I'm leaning toward a pouch for its simplicity. Any petite mamas have a pouch that they absolutely love?

I am 5'4" and short-waisted. I do have a Zolo that I love, but got it only when my dd was over a year (she is on the small side though). I had problems with pouches, personally. I like my dd high and tight, but b/c of my short-waist she ended up being too tight when she was high enough. Anyway, pouches just didn't work for me (and I tried hard, I had 4, fiddled with sizes, everything). In fact I got the RS to use for hip carry instead of a pouch.

Since your dd is still quite small (i.e., you are holding her a lot), why not try a Mei Tai? They are much more comfortable than one-shouldered carriers and easy to use. I have loved my Kozy since dd was small, but found it too high for when she was awake (yes, you can roll up the bottom, but that's a pain). Now it's great when she is not asleep (my dd is 18mo). I loved my Kolamo (now it's Ellaroo Mei Tai), b/c it was beautiful, comfortable, and had a head flap that I could lift up when my dd was asleep, and keep it down when she was awake. (I have only tried 3 Mei Tais ever, but there are many other ones out there moms love, like Freehand, Sachi, Babyhawk, Napsack, ...).

I am petite and rig sling just didn't work for me. I went with a hotsling stretch cotton puch for #2, loved it, and will use it again for #3.

Thank you!! Hotsling is the first place I've seen that has slings or pouches for my shoulder/hip measurement of 22in, without getting one custom made.

Lucky Baby (lucky-baby.com) will make you a custom pouch if they don't have the perfect size. And the price is better than Hotsling (though they don't have padding).
