What kind of fabric best for a ring sling for Houston summer?

I used a bjorn carrier for my dd but could not nurse in it. I want to get a ring sling so I have a carrier that I can nurse discreetly in and have hands free for my 2 year old. A friend has offered to make me one ( she is a great seamstress) What kind of fabric is best for HOUSTON TX summer?

Oh, solarveil for sure. BTW, I have read that darker ones seem softer than the lighter ones. I have felt a khaki, and just got a RS in navy, and navy sure is softer.
