I am a fabric addict. Some people are into bags, some shoes, some clothes -- for me its fabric.

I just have to share my favorites:
http://thefabricfinder.com/Childrens_Bedding.htm

I adore the Twinkle in green and daffodil.
I am in love with the new Bloomcraft Twister (giant dots)
I love the Kaufmann Carousel in Multi -- girlie but not over powering girly
I love the Kaufamnn Camelot fabrics. They have coordinates not on that site. The pear is so pretty. The repeat is HUGE.

And love sewing with all the new stuff from Alexander Henry. OMG. I just adore all his new stuff and it was so hot at all the fashion trade shows this year.
Check out his site of his latest fabrics:
http://thefabricfinder.com/Childrens_Bedding.htm
Some are hard to find, but I like drooling over them all the same.
I just spent a small fortune getting a retired pastel cowboy/cowgirl retro print from 2002 of his.
(luckily my husband doesn't know)

Let's just say the UPS man and I are good friends. The ladies at the post office have actually held boxes of fabric for me instead of delivering it to my house. LOL

Well, I will have to check w/ Kim b/c I can be a clutz w/ fabrics and I sometimes have very little faith in my monitor! Anyway, these are the fabrics I'm in love with.

I am in the minority I guess; but I love retro styles and colors.
This the main fabric I like with red accents. (My stroller is red too) so I think it will all go together well.
And its much different than my Ella bag.

In my opinion, the best quality fabrics in cottons or polished cottons are Alexander Henry, Rober Kaufmann, Free Spirit, Michael Miller, and Marcus Brothers. There are a few others but these are my favorites. The quality of the fabrics is excellent. They are woven tight and the prints are excellent, lasting, and over time seem to have the least amount of natural fading.

Sewing is like the "new" in thing where I live. Home arts are definitely coming back and with that the sewing shops have really boomed where I live. Even if you do not sew, but like boutique items -- like clothing for your children, diaper bags, burp cloths, blankets or even custom bedding, I really recommend going to your local quilt or sewing shop to check out the offerings they have.

I love French Impressionism so I'm going for that kind of look.

This fabric is for the exterior
http://www.hancocks-paducah.com/shop-html/prods/F/FQ79171A.html

and this is for the interior

I'll have to ask Debbie if she thinks it will work.

This is fun!

Those are cute, but not what I am looking for.

These are The Flower Fairies: http://www.flowerfairies.com (be aware the website makes noise when you enter it)

Flower Fairies are the creation of author and illustrator Cicely Mary Barker. There are all sorts of books and stickers and figurines, etc.

I have no idea who makes the fabric, but I know it is out there somewhere since I have a cloth diaper I bought on eBay with this theme, but no one knows who made the diaper, so that is no help.

Karen,

I saw that www.ladybuttonfabrics.com (one of the websites that Kim has down as a source) has Cicely Mary Barker fabric. However, it is just 3 patterns - tan fairy wings, pink fairy wings, and a lavendar patchwork with fairies on it. I have no idea if the lavendar patchwork witht the fairies is what you're looking for. I am going to try to post the link!

jI recently oredered an Ella Elaine bag. At the time I couldn't decide between black + white or something funky. I went with something funky-maybe not me at all-so now I'm thinking of choosing something more traditional. Maybe a black toile with red piping...The fabric sites have so much to chose from so I'm hoping I can make this decision.

I really like the looks of the Windsor Day Tripper.

I wanted to note something for some of you that are looking for the really durable fabrics, something that you can beat up, etc.
If you are looking for pretty stripes, or neutrals you may want to check out the outdoor fabrics at The Fabric Finder.
http://thefabricfinder.com/OutdoorFabrics.htm

You will notice several familiar fabrics. These fabrics are used on lawn furniture and they can really survive a good bit. You will find that the many cottage companies and bag designers use these outdoor fabrics because they wear well. (they also add stiffness to the final product)

I've had several questions about the durability of fabrics, etc. How they hold up, and if you are wanting something that can take a beating, than this may be a good option for some.

I've had so many wonderful emails and I am so happy that I have this opportunity. Ali was so sweet to ask me to offer the coop to all of you and it is the first one she has hosted and the first one I have ever offered in 22 months of business.

Sincerely,
Kim

I love this fabric, and it's the fabric we're using in the nursery. I'm having a heck of a time choosing a coordinating fabric.

I was thinking of a sage green twill for bottom, raspberry gingham for a belt in between the two and raspberry gingham for the interior. But, not sure if that seems too boring.

Hi Mariana,

I really love the two combos you came up with on page 3 of this thread - the Michael Miller fabrics. I did a search on ladybutton and couldn't find them. Would you mind posting the links for the 4 fabrics? I hope you don't mind, but I'm thinking of stealing your idea and doing one of my bags with your second combo. The colors are beautiful! Unless, of course, you'd rather I didn't...I can understand if you want to keep it a "Mariana original" :)

I love everyone's choices of fabric! I have 2 bags picked out already for my kids. Mt DD is 7 1/2 and I'm getting her a backpack with her name on it for school. I'm getting a backplack for my DS as well.
I just wanted to let you know that Kim at Whimsical Wares has been a great help to me in finding coordinating fabrics if you are stuck. She can get solids locally, so if you are willing to go with a solid to match your "pattern" let her know.
She also has some other sources for fabric if you are looking for something in particular. She found a great nautical print for me yesterday.

Good luck with the decisions!

This is my first venture into custom bags...Can anyone make a suggestion for what to put with this fabric? I love tropical and didn't really want anything too "Girly" (yep, I know it's flowers...but DH would actually carry this since it's tropical). I was thinking a Khaki twill or something. For a backpack I probably would not go with the car fabric. I have used that before for a client and the fabric is not made as well as other cottons. In fact it is not woven as tightly as say some of the other fabrics on the market.
The Yankess fabric is a more tightly woven print and of higher quality. Plus it is more pleasing to the eye.

so I have to resort to this sly method of questioning..

1. what is the actual size of the stroller blanket, can you use the following material, is it washable, and also is a pink or purple backing chenile ( I believe that is what is pictured) available????

2. Does an outdoor fabric like this go with this kind of fabric??
Sorry for the questions but I don't know what they are like IRL.

You can get pink chenille, it is 26" x 40", and yes it is washable. In fact chenille gets softer with each wash.

I would not pair the two fabrics together. I would go with a black duck cloth with the first fabric pictured. I believe it would look weird.

Sorry to hear about your email. Email does weird things these days. So many people I know are having problems with spam guards, etc.

I am trying to decide what fabric to use for my tote and I think I have one I like but have a few questions...
1) I would like to use a kiwi green or light blue piping that would
match. Do I need to find this online?
2) Same question with the 2nd fabric... I was thinking of a denim bottom. Do I have to find that, too.

Sorry to ask such "dumb" questions!! LOL

Also, please tell me what you think about the choices I'm thinking of! :)

Okay, I could use some serious help deciding on my WW fabric! I would like to order one tote and one backpack.

I have a few choices for the first fabric but can't figure out what to do with the second choice. I like the idea of a plain color bottom with piping.

I really like stripes, hawaiian, or beach (since we live near the beach). I tend not to be too retro. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated as I would like to get this figured out and place my order. THANKS THANKS THANKS!!! :)

Here are some of the choices I liked:

The blue toile is less "like me," I just thought the beach scene with the animals was cute.

I like the stripes and the pink flower print fabrics. I had an ella backpack done in a similar striped fabric called "Watermelon stripes". I haven't used the backpack, but I just love looking at it-LOL. It's so darn cute! I attached a pic, which doesn't do it justice!

How about the Kiwi floral

with a solid color bottom and the cute stripes

as the piping, but set on the bias (diagonally)?

I love that kiwi floral! It will make a great spring/summer bag!

What do you all think of this combination? Does it look as pretty as I am thinking or am I completely sleep deprived?

I must confess that I was really overwhelmed by all of the choices initially, but now I'm so excited to have this opportunity that I can barely wait! These are my choices for a backpack:

Colorband, pastel by Michael Miller (horizontal)

and the bottom will have a blue twill fabric, as follows:

I spoke with Kim this morning and she was fabulous! She will pick the piping color (in the yellow family) and she had great ideas for my special requests. She was very kind, funny, and helpful.
