I got in at the last minute on the diaperbags.com co-op too. I just e-mailed Kim to see if this is still possible. My hotmail's been down all day so haven't been able to contact her up to this point.

What do you think of this combo? Does it matter that I have two boys? I figure the bag's for me and goes with what I'm wearing, no? I just started thinking about that when I saw the options for stroller blanket, burp cloths, etc. I wish I could do a stroller blanket, but that would be kind of weird, no? Maybe something coordinating but not in pinks?

The top would be: "Springtime in Paris" by Michael Miller

Hi, the 2 together look fine. It is such an awesome print so I was looking for something that may echo the many patterns and stripes on people's clothes and the awnings in the fabric that you selected. I didn't see anything that made me go WOW. I found a red gingham that kind of brought out the table cloth in the picture, but it totally changed the feel of the bag. I am no expert in this so can't help you much. Thought I could help by showing the fabric together to give you and the others an idea to start with. Lin

I love the Springtime in Paris, but I don't think that these stripes are a match. I see alot of a peachy color in the stripes and don't see a match in the fabric. I have a bib in this fabric and it has a hot pink trim. I would do either a hot pink on the bottom or maybe a hot pink fabric with a subtle small print?

Kim showed me 2 pink fabrics (for my own bag): Will either of these do?

I agree with Heidi. I wanted to use the Springtime in Paris print, but I couldn't find a coordinating fabric that I really liked. I thought pink would look the best, and I didn't want pink. Would you want to just do the entire bag in that fabric and maybe do a really fun trim? I love that fabric - I think it'd look nice alone. Though I do love bags with two fabrics - it seems to punch it up a little.

I'd pick a solid med blue that would match the blue in fabric or a solid black.

Thanks to all of you for your suggestions. Maybe Kim will have some ideas too. I'm not big on all pink, so maybe a blue bottom? I really love the stripe, though. Maybe what I really need is two bags--one with the stripe and a solid and one with the Springtime in Paris and a solid. Really, I don't need ANY more bags, but these are just so cute!

Lisa--I like the 2 fabric bags too. The stripes and the Spingtime pattern worked much better together on my computer screen at home. At work, here, they don't seem to go as well. : (

How about matching the pastel colorband stripe with Michael Miller's Parisville?

Hmmm. Do you think they'd go better? Would anyone mind posting them next to each other (not sure how to do that)?

Thanks,

The awning and the dresses seem more red than pink to me... But you probably don't want a red bottom, that wmay be too much? I agree with one of the moms that maybe a blue bottom will look nice, and great for the summer. How about blue/white stripes to match the awning for the Spring time in paris fabric? Just a thought.

Well, I can't wait to see what you decide on eventually. And since Kim has 100+ bags to sew, you may have more time to decide. :)

Lisa-
My Ella is the Springtime in Paris print. I'll post a pic here so you can see it.
The print has a lot of vivid pink it. A hint of red, but its def. more bold colors than pastel.
I used a black bottom hot pink band and inner.

I was going mention a blue/white stripe too when I posted solid blue but the first paris print background looked more cream then white but maybe you could find a cream and blue stripe.I'm having fun adding my .02 cents since I'm living vicariously through all you since I can't order this time.Have fun choosing.:-)

One more thought. Here's the colorband in pink instead of pastel.http://www.thecottonshop.net/cgi-bin/fabricshop/show.cgi?Pic=miller296.JPG&cat=0.I think it would match better but I'd still probably go with a solid blue bottom.

I got an Ella in this print with a black gingham bottom and hot pink ostrich and hot pink interior. It turned out really cute! My mom ended up with it but I took a pic before I gave it to her. The ostrich almost covered up the gingham now that I look at the picture! :) I think this combo would be nice with a hot pink band or even piping done in one of the stripes you showed.

Denise, how do you like the ostrich trim? I was thinking of getting it on my roses and stripes. Does it shed? Do the babies and toddlers pick at it? Does it seem like it will be durable or will it wear out sooner than the rest of the bag? Do you have trouble with it getting caught on things as you put it in a stroller basket or whatever? Do I ask enough questions? LOL

Well, my experience is a bit off (possibly) because I'm using my Ella as a purse rather than as a diaper bag. Therefore, my kids aren't messing with it too much. I do occasionally find bits of the trim stuck to things (particularly the seats in my van??? why???) but it doesn't seem to me to be shedding quickly or badly. I think it will be fairly durable but there's a chance it will wear out before the rest of the bag. I haven't had any trouble at all with it getting caught on things. It sort of lies down flat when you push it into the basket or have something against it. It actually has been pretty durable so far! Plus, I really love the way it looks...so silly & girly! :) I'm not sure that I'm answering your questions very well, I'm feeling wishy-washy tonight! LOL!
