I am not sure this is the correct forum for this, but here it goes...we are planning on spending a few weeks at the beach this summer and i really want to get one of those sun tents for us to use. dd will be about 6.5 months old and i am interested in the big one in the one step ahead catalog. does anyone have any experience with this tent or any other recommendations? any and all advice would be greatly appreciated!

thanks!

I don't have any experience with them yet, but I have also been looking (though we will have a 6 week old vs. 6 mos old). Here are some that I found. Kelgar makes several called the Kwik Cabana. The smallest is 36 x 39 x 39 and it sells for about $35. The next size up might be roomier for your needs (the Kwik Kabana II), esp. if you plan to go to the beach next year with an 18 mos old! I also found the Lil Nursery UV Protected Baby Hut (30x30x30) for about $25 and the Little Hut UV Baby Tent (same size) for $27 (this one has a little toy bar in it). The Kelgars seem to be sold on several online sights including babycenter and tinkertots.

I'm very curious about folks who've used these and other suggestions!

We used the Prince Lionheart Pop-up Sun Tent/Cabana/Play Hut and it worked perfectly. Lightweight and small enough to pack, with nice carrying handles. Easy to set up too. It's similar to this one, which is new:

Good luck! :)

I am so glad you posted this, because I need one also! I have not really looked for one yet, but we saw one last year at beach that was LLBean. At some point, I seem to remeber seeing one that you put sand in pockets to keep it in place. I thought that was a great idea, as we always have a time of getting an umbrella in the ground well enough to not blow away at some point. Thought the kids could easily help with that too! I was thinking of getting one big enough for more of the family to sit in- we've got 4 kids. Not necessarily big enough for all at once, but not one of those that is just big enough for a baby to lay under.

This is the one I am looking at:

http://www.onestepahead.com/jump.jsp?lGen=detail&itemID=1213&itemType=PRODUCT&iProductID=1213&change=117

It looks big enough for a family?

And here is the one from LLBean...

Does anyone know about either of these??
