We are going to Hawaii in 3 weeks and I want to get a backpack style diaper bag for our trip - we'll be doing lots of hiking. I know I could just use a regular backpack but hate the "black hole". I want an "organized" bag! There's too many choices but I think I've narrowed it down to 3 versions.

Baby Sherpa - a little $$ but has waist and sternum straps and just VERY cool! http://www.babysherpa.com/product.htm

Land's End Deluxe - cheap but a little heavy? (5 pounds EMPTY is what I heard - is that true?) http://tinyurl.com/2oqeh

Eagle Creek Parent Survival Pack - also a little $ but very trim looking http://www.eaglecreek.com/60075.html

Let me know if you have any of these bags and what you think of them. Or if you have another one you just love. It needs to be BIG! TIA!

This might help - the Eagle Creek is on sale at the Sierra Trading Post:

I've never ordered from them, but several people here say their customer service is excellent.

My neighbor has a Baby Sherpa and used it while they were in Switzerland with two children. She loved it and while she doesnt use it for around town use she uses it for traveling overseas and to visit her mother and father up north. She said it was great for the airport and was very sturdy and was very organized, carrying enough stuff for her very long flight over seas!

I was noticing that on ebay today! It is a good deal. The only thing I really like about LE is their return policy...and of course on ebay you do not have that option. I'm sure the manufacturer would deal with you if the Baby Sherpa needed to be replaced, sinc eI notice that it also has a life-time warrenty. Thanks for the input.

Hi, I have the eagle creek & love it... wrote a little bit about it in a post here: http://www.windsorpeak.com/dc/dcboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=63&topic_id=6121&mesg_id=6135&page=

It can be a little black-holish if you aren't a great packer (I'm not!) It does have a lot of pockets/etc for organization, and I'm getting better at figuring what should go where :)

It's not very "trim" though if you really *pack* it-- I used it for my carryon when flying this past week and b/c I had stuffed it with all of those things that wouldn't fit in the checked luggage + my breastpump, it wouldn't fit under the seat in front of me :) But it's a good thing to be big, since I can get everything I want into it... I also feel kinda camel-ish when I overpack it, esp. since I'm usually carrying ds in a sling on the front-- it sticks out as much as he does! But it's a normal backpack size when it's not overburdened.

I also really like that it looks like a normal backpack and we can use it like that after we're out of diaper bag phase (can't imagine!!), and that dh has no problem carrying it since it looks like a backpack. I also found out that its backpack straps unhook and hook together to go over my stroller bar-- neat idea :) It's also a good quality backpack-- the shoulder straps are molded to lay well across the shoulders and under the arms, and are also nicely padded (eagle creek just makes a quality product in general).

I bought mine from sierra trading as well-- check out this link for some free shipping "answers" if you choose to buy it from them. You can also go theu ebates I think, for an extra 3% off... http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/messageview.php?catid=18&threadid=243140&highlight_key=y&keyword1=sierra

Good luck, have fun!
