Ladies, I need help deciding on a WW fabric. Somebody has got to be able to assist.

I want the Katie Bucket and am thinking about the following fabrics. First, let me say, I am not a cutesy person. I'm sort of a free-spirit and tend towards the muted colors. But, I'm thinking for a diaper bag, why not do something a little different than what I'd normally do. I just cannot decide. Also, I want something that will carry me year-round more or less. I live in Cali and the climate is very moderate here.

Anyway, here are my 3 ideas for exteriors. What do you all think?

Based on what you say, I might try number 1. Number 2 is a bit bright (I tend toward more muted colors too on the whole), and Number 3, is well, a bit cutsie (to me at least). Thought I LIKE number 3.

I'd probably rank them in the following order: 1, 3, 2.

HTH a little.

They are all actually very pretty!

Hi,
I just posted some pictures of my bag w/ the third choice. I love the pattern, it's kinda funky and hip (which is so not my wardrobe right now).

Here's the link to the photos:

That is a tough decision.. i would have to go with the order 1,2,3.. or 2,1,3... but I am sure any of those would turn out great.

My all time fav fabrics are the Amy Butler ones.. did you check those out?

Hey! I think I would go with the top choice. I think it would be great with a red accent. I almost chose this for my WW bag, but instead went with something more summery.

I love the Amy Butler fabrics! I used the spice red wedding batik and blue sky stripe for my WW bag.

I got the exact same combo on my bag, but it hasn't arrived yet. How do you like yours? Those fabrics are beautiful!

I love 1--I kept going back to it when I was looking. If you didn't want to do red with it, that bottle-green is really pretty.

Melissa:

Can you please post a pic of your bag. I want to order a WW tote and I really like the red batik but did not know what to put with it - maybe seeing a picture of your bag will inspire me.

Thanks!

My bag hasn't arrived yet, but I will post as soon as it does. I only ordered it about 2 weeks ago.

Glad to know others are looking at the same combination because I was a little worried!

I ordered the spice red on top, with a black bottom. The sky blue stripe is going to be used for the inside and as piping. Hopefully it will work! I wanted to use the sky blue stripe as the bottom portion, but was chicken. Kim suggested black or khaki to go with the spice red.

Love ALL those fabrics:
http://www.artofthemidwest.com/amybutler/images/fabrics/GINGER.CAP1.008_button.jpg http://www.artofthemidwest.com/amybutler/images/fabrics/GINGER.CAP1.012_button.jpg http://www.artofthemidwest.com/amybutler/images/fabrics/GINGER.CAP1.010_button.jpg http://www.artofthemidwest.com/amybutler/images/fabrics/GINGER.CAP1.013_button.jpg

My combinations would be:
3 on top, 1 at the bottom with 2 as a ribbon or piping trim seperating both.

LOL. Welcome to the club. ;-) I went through the same thing, staying up 2-3 in the morning surfing the net, trying to decide on some fabric combo. Feeling restless all day, etc etc. It was worse than when I was shopping for my wedding dress. lol.

It seems that you got some more options esp. from Amy Butler's collection. In fact, from what you said about yourself, I would venture to suggest that Amy Butler may be your style.

Now, I thought I wanted to try something different as well. So I went with the b/w Disco dots with pink ribbon and interior. It's very cute and IN this season. But I sold it soon after receiving it because it was just NOT me, and it did not go with anything I own (I don't own anything pink!). I went back and ordered another bag with just the B?W Disco dots, NO pink this time. lol. It was great in theory, but in reality I couldn't use that bag without feeling self-conscious. Thought I should share my experience. Several WW bags were put on Baby Bag Swap for sale for similar reasons: owners felt the bags, though gorgeous, were NOT them, and decided to order something different instead. HTH.

I LOVE #2 -- that Michael Miller periwinkle flashback. I was planning on getting my Whimsical Wears backpack in that print but I told Kim I'll do that one next. I just had to get my brocade one done first. It was a close decision though since I really love that print! It's a great summery color! I think it'll look even better in a messenger bag style to showcase more of the fabric.

There's a seller on eBay (I think anpt*designs) who makes totes with that fabric - you could view it to get an idea of what it would like like as a bag. I think she calls it "retro swirl" or something like that - you could do a Completed Items search if she doesn't have any currently for sale. It'll at least give you a good overall picture of how big the print really is. She also has cute matching clutches/cosmetic bags.

People have had such positive experiences with Kim, though, so I'll be ordering from her since she's branching out into other sizes.

I say go with #2. I went with something totally not me for my WW bag, and I love it. I'm not at all flowery and girly and yet I got the big roses print.

I ordered something that is more me for my backpack and it turns out that I don't like it as much as the roses. I like it, just not as much. :)

Rashmi and Karen,
I was just looking at these fabrics, too! They are certainly gorgeous!!

I can't decide which I like better but I'm leaning toward the blues/greens/browns that Rashmi posted.

What do you think about this stripe with the 3 fabric on yours? It's hard to tell without seeing more of the pattern to me!

You make such a good point about not going too far off of what I'd usually get. Sometimes I try to convince myself to be different, but if something really works, then it really works and why go mess with it?

I am definately going to go with some of these newer Amy Butler prints. to me they scream, "juliet!"

Look at this combo from the new Amy Butler line:

http://www.artofthemidwest.com/amybutler/images/fabrics/GINGER.CAP2.002_button.jpg

or in another color scheme:

http://www.artofthemidwest.com/amybutler/images/fabrics/GINGER.CAP3.009_button.jpg

http://www.artofthemidwest.com/amybutler/images/fabrics/GINGER.CAP1.006_button.jpg

I really like this paisley:
http://www.artofthemidwest.com/amybutler/images/fabrics/GINGER.CAP3.007_button.jpg

But what I learned from the last time is that it is really hard to match anything to the paisleys.

NOT THAT I NEED ANOTHER BAG! because I don't. Really.

Drat! yes, I ended up ordering a Katie Bucket tote in the fabrics I showed. Like I need another bag! LOL! But, they are just too cute and I couldn't resist. Plus, after all the good things I've heard about WW, I *had* to have one, too. :) Also, I slid in just under the coupon deadline...that's what finally pushed me off the fence! LOL!
