View Full Version : Changing pad?

I seem to recall seeing a very nicely-padded changing pad in the One Step Ahead catalog a while back, but now I'm looking at their website and they don't have anything like it there. I have a 20 month old, so the little pads that come with bags are too short for him (even though he's a short lil peanut), and I wanted to find something longer, and more padded. TIA for any suggestions!

I think I know what you mean, b/c I have it, but it's too big for me to use in my bags, I use it for diaper changes at home. It has a little "pillow" like area for the head, right? Black on one side, grey on the other and velcros closed?

For out and about I use a receiving blanket. It's bigger, but doesn't take up much space. I know it's not much padding, but at this age I just make sure I put him down gently and it's no big deal.

I bought mine a long time ago, though, and I think it was on sale, but it could have been clearance.

I believe I just saw something similiar, though...racking my brain here to remember...maybe Babies R Us(actually it would have been the BRU section at TRU), or Target? It was black...maybe the kind with the dangling side-pockets.

HTH but I doubt it!

Thanks Melanie,
It's good to know I'm not going nuts, that it does exist, lol!
I'll have to start looking around at the stores...at something other than strollers and diaper bags!

There is something like it at BRU, no pillow but it does have a handle & two zip pouches. I use it in my big diaperbag. It's padded pretty nicely & cost only like $10.00. :)

We were at Buy Buy Baby (or as Kath says, Spend Spend, Mommy!) yday, and I found a BIG changing pad by JL CHildress, it folds out to 19 by 30!!! But down to like 6 by 10, and has a velcro strap to keep it folded. It was $9.99, and it comes in black and navy, with the waterproof side being white. I really like it, and my peanut of a 20 month old will fit all but 2 inches of his lil bod on it, so it's exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for the advice, ladies!

Link if anyone's interested: http://www.jlchildress.com/products/fullbody-changing-pad.html

I don't know why, but they don't show it unfolded, though I'd be glad to take pics if anyone wants to see.

Thanks for posting that! I would lvoe something that would cover all (or almost all - he's about 35") of Ds and fold compactly for the changing pad. Next time I'm near BRU (we have no buy buy baby and their shipping is crazy!) I'll check it out.

Thanks Jessica.

I have the JL Childress changing pad and prefer it to the others I've tried. It providses great coverage and is rather compact for it size.

FYI: I roll the pad up and wrap the velcro'd strap around it so that it fits in one of the bottleholders in my Kecci. Since, I'm breastfeeding and my DD doesn't take a bottle, it works like a charm for us!

Also, BabySuperMall.com has it for $3.91 right now...

That's a great idea to roll it up! My DS never took a bottle either, he's still BFing at 21 mos, so I was always cramming other stuff into the bottle holders. Right now my "everyday" dipe bag is a LE LT, so the folding of the pad from JLC is perfect to fit in there. :)

The one from SuperBabyMall.com says it only measures 12" x 21" so it is not the same one the pp has although it is made by the same company.

Yes, they had two sizes of pretty much the same pad. I don't think the smaller one had the velco to hold it folded, though. I wanted the bigger one b/c ....well, just b/c I'm turning germophobic lately, lol!

The velco, and the colors were the only differences that I saw between the two sizes. The larger came in navy or black, the smaller in navy, black or red.
