What exactly is a co-op??

Hi, forgive me for being ignorant. I think I get it but can someone explain how a co-op works? And how do you find out about them?

A co-op is essentially a sale on a particular product that is offered to a group. For example, a gal here may contact a retailer they know who will offer a particular product to the group at a discount. The retailer makes less of a profit on each product but makes up for it by selling lots of products. There are lots of co-ops for diaper bags. You'll hear about them by hanging out here. Some are offered directly here and other through the babybags yahoo board.
