Was reading on a sewing forum I frequent, and found links to Amy Butler sewing patterns for diaper bags. These are just adorable, my fave is the Nappy Bag, Rural Messenger, and the In Town is neat too. I may have to order some and give them a try!

The nappy bag is cute. I haven't had time to sew at all lately. I'm very behind on projects. And, when I get patterns, I never actually make'em. Oh well!

Those are very cute. I sew too, mostly quilting, and would love to find a good sewing/quilting forum. Can you recommend any?

Thanks
Phoebe

Love that Nappy Bag! I've never sewed a bag before. I'd love to give it a try. Has anyone ever done it before? Is it hard? How long does it take?

Pass a link to a good sewing forum chicadee!

I love her patterns. I just started collecting them. Of course, I love her fabrics too!

There are simple patterns online to make totes if you sew. Also, if you live in the south, there are a lot of sewing classes on how to make a simple tote.

The sewing forum I read on is at www.amitymama.com. VERY crunchy group, lol, so be prepared! ;)

When Joann's has their $1 and $2 pattern sales, I need to replace some of my bag/tote patterns that got lost when we moved. They have several that are good diaper bags, too.

Well, um, how crunchy can they be?
I post on Mothering, and have for sometime now! :)

I've *got* to know what crunchy means?! Sometimes, here, people are referred to as 'granola', which means earthy, hippie-ish, Berkeley-esque. Is it like that?

Ditto on the "to do" patterns! I have several that I haven't done either. Plus I started a quilt for #2 daughter when she was born and now she's 3 and #3 is due in 6 weeks! I only have 1/2 the quilt done!

Those patterns are cute though-I put the link in my favorites folder. Maybe in the future....

There you go, your kind of place, lol!

I wasn't saying "crunchy" meanly, of course. Only because I once sent a friend to another AM board, and she came back to me saying how weird all fo the girls were, how they BF forever, CD and cosleep. She's not a friend anymore though, so oh well. But since then I always tell people that.

Exactly. Although I've always thought that when people spoke of "crunchy/granola" in reference to parenting it was more in reference to AP than to any "tree huggerness". Think Cloth-diapering, slinging, home schooling, cosleeping, home birthing and UC, and you've got it. I love the community, I just can't keep up with it, and my membership is wonky and I can't post or view attachments right now.

haha! I am one up on you. I did a quilt before ds was born. I think I let it sit there for months, and then the nesting instinct cut in. I didn't clean; I sewed a curtain, a boppy pillow & a case, some foam foot rests, a diaper changing mattress cover, a crib skirt, 3-4 changing pads, and many wrong measurement slings!

They all turned out well which is a big surprise because I can't sew too well.

I'm sorry if I am gloating. I think I just needed someone to just ask to show how proud I am of what I did!

On the crafts board here some members were discussing diaper bags recently. You might want to check that out. With the WW craze, I wanted to try it out. I chickened out because I knew it would be one of those patterns that I would buy and not work on.

I hope you do!
