I just received my black Skip Hop and it seems like it wouldn't fit much. Do they really fit a lot? It is my first diaper bag and I bought it bc I have a Graco Metrolite stroller in Central Park which is black. So I figured it would go best. Plus, DH can use it. PLUS, then I can buy the really cute bags out there in fun colors. ;)

I guess it is hard for me to tell if it will be big enough since I don't have my baby yet and won't know how much I'll need. I guess I am just used to seeing HUGE diaper bags in the stores. Also can you really change a baby on those little changing pads? Guess a newborn will do. I'll have to buy those Huggies disposables that everyone is talking about. :)

I think the Skip Hop holds a lot. But not a lot of room for clothes. I usually keep a bag in the car with extra clothes. I usually just have one or 2 outfits in the middle of the bag. Then I stuff the zippered compartments w/pacifiers, bibs, burp clothes, etc. I still change my 2 year old on that changing pad (his upper body doesn't fit on it), but I only change my kids in the minivan or insides someones house. I can't do it in the public rest rooms, it just gives me the creeps. Congratulations on your future arrival, only a few weeks left!

Baby clothes are pretty teeny too, it's not like when I pack for my 5y/o! I can fit 4 size 4 dipes, a case of wipes, and 2 outfits for my 21mo DS in the large inside pocket, and have space to spare. I keep spares of everything in the car as well.

If you would rather have a larger changing pad, I just bought one by JL Childress that is REALLY big, but folds nice and small. Here it is, it was only $8 at BuyBuyBaby. My younger DS is short for his age, but he fits on it just perfectly.

Thx. You're right. Baby clothes ARE teeny. What was I thinking. Plus, I'm hoping to breastfeed so I guess I won't need to worry about bottles for a bit. UGh, I feel like there is so much to know with a baby (and I took just about every class I can take...LOL). It's such a learning experience. :)

Zynnia,
I have two boys, almost 2 and 6, and I'm still learning, LOL! It's definitely an ongoing process, none of us will never know it all. I read every book I could get my hands on about BFing while I was pg with #2, determined not to make the mistakes I made w/#1. Nothing could have prepared me for it, because it's all just DOING. Not like learning multiplications tables, or phonics, you know? My kids' personalities seem to change on a somewhat daily basis, so it's never the same thing twice...and if it is, it's not something we want to repeat, lol! :)

The Skip Hop holds more than it looks like it would. I think it's the skinniness of it that's deceiving. I can definitely get everything I need for a quick trip into the Skip Hop. I've even carried two bottles in it before, along with all our other stuff. For longer trips (or if I need to take my Kozy carrier along), I take a different bag that holds more (usually Mothership). Also, for fall/winter, you may want something bigger if you'll be toting around a blanket or a jacket. But I'd hang on to the Skip Hop if I were you. It's just a very versatile bag.

Zynnia--

Don't get sucked in by everything labeled for baby. Instead of Huggies changing pads, use regular incontinence pads from the drugstore. So much more economical! For cushion, use your own changing pad underneath.
