Ugh, it sucks! Anyone else having this problem? I love my bag and use it all the time when I'm out all day, but if the fraying continues I'm afraid the strap where the D-ring attaches is going to eventually break. I know I'm a heavy packer when I'm out all day, but come on, I expect more from a $50 bag! Maybe I'll try to sew it. It's happening on both sides.

That sucks! :( It looks like on the opposite side of the fray (in the second picture from the top) the actual attachment/strap itself is coming off from the left! You could probably sew that back on and reinforce all the others while you're at it... As for the fraying, I've seen people singe these before since it's nylon. I don't know how successful or reinforced it becomes but maybe it will stop it from progressing any further? I did notice that the weave of the strap is kind of a loose weave compared to the tighter-woven PPB straps, so maybe the singe won't keep it from starting to fray/unravel again but maybe it's worth a try? Sorry I'm not much help!

That looks terrible! (Sorry, I'm sure that doesn't make you feel any better) You haven't even had that bag very long. Can you give the manf. a call and see what they can do? Maybe they can exchange it for you?

You could ask Kim (Whimsical Wears) as see what she might suggest to reinforce it. I'm no help there.

I have to say that looks really bad.

#1. I think you should call the company and complain. Its just not acceptable. I have had things returend to me for fraying, especially the bags made with wovens like the dragonfly fabrics and I fix them. If this bag is under a year old then you should call and have them replace your bag or repair it.

#2. Without seeing or having the bag in my hand I can't tell how this bag is made. An experience seamstress could possible replace the nylon with nylon peices or fabric. To keep from fraying, try fray check or clear nail polish or burning. The thing is, that fabric could be flamable and then you might have a bigger problem on your hands.

#3. This is for people who are making their own diaper bags. The reason this is fraying and coming out is one it has not been reinforced. I have a sneaky suspicion that the top stitching you see on the bag is the actual stitch holding the strap in place. It probably was not caught well by the machine and thus fraying with the weight of the bag (coming apart little by little) Now you can buy this type of strapping at JoAnns or Hancocks, my suggest if you use it is to treat the ends from fraying before sewing them in, once in sew over it a few times to secure it, preventing possible fraying,.

Hope this helps and good luck getting it fixed!

I haven't bought any of your bags, but I can see why your bags are such the rave! I have read many of your suggestions about making bags, and I can see the vast knowledge you have on these matters. It also makes me realize that when you get bags made from less experienced bag makers you are missing out and getting inferior product. I bought a bag or two on ebay, and I definitely was disappointed.

Thanks for sharing yourself on these boards!
