I'm totally pathetic, I know, I know, but I'm having a horrible time deciding on what I want for my WW bag. I've chosen a Katie bucket tote, with these fabrics:

All I know is that I want the main exterior of the bag to be in the eggplant kimono. The other two fabrics that I really like, and go with it are the matching (lake blue) market umbrellas and the matching stripes. I'll post the pictures of the fabrics below.

Here are my two options on what to do, and I'm wondering what your thoughts are!
1) Have all 3 on the bag...exterior the kimono eggplant, bottom exterior the matching stripes, and the interior the market umbrellas.
2) Have only 2 fabrics on the bag...exterior again the kimono eggplant, and the interior one of the other two (and if you choose this option, which fabric do you choose?).

I'm considering one fabric on the exterior because I don't want it to be too *much* with all of the fabrics, but I've seen Kim mention that the stripes and the kimono look great together, which is why I'm torn!

Can you help me, please?!?!?! :-)

Thank you in advance, I'm nuts, I know!

The fabrics are beautiful! I have a bag in them in a different color scheme. My choice would be do fabric #1 on top, #2 on bottom, and #3 inside. It will be cute and fun!

I think it would be a little too busy with all 3 fabrics and that the fabrics would get lost - too much to look at. I'd go with the first one on top, the stripes on the bottom, and the stripes inside. They're all beautiful fabrics though. Are they Amy Butler?

Hi, you are not nuts. lol. I am normally not a flowery patterened person, but I do like the combo of the first 2. To my untrained eyes, they look great together, not overwhelming, but complimenting each other. In addition, I would trust Kim's judgement.

As for the interior, I am having a hard time visualizing it. Again, what did Kim say? She may have a better idea since she probabaly has seen all 3 fabrics (and may even have all 3 of them in her workshop since they seem to be quite popular! lol)

Amy Butler designed all these fabrics to go together. Have you seen some pictures of the bags using her fabrics? I am amazed at how wonderful the bags look with 2 supposedly busy fabrics inside and out.

For example, in this piture:

There are 3 different fabric on the bag.

The link below will take you to Amy Butler's web site so you can see some of the bags using 2 or 3 of her fabrics looking fabulous. (I now wish I could sew! I ADORE the In Town Bag! Again, want to stress how rare this is: I am really a black/white girl, not flowery at all... lol )

Hope seeing some of the bags using her fabric will make you feel more comfortable with your choice. :)

Wow - thank you so much for posting this Lin! The second website is really great for getting a sense of what these great fabrics look like on a bag...not that I am that much closer to making up my mind, but it gives me inspiration!

What if you did the stripes on top, and the kimono on the bottom? Maybe the top band could be more narrow so more of the kimono is used. And then do the umbrellas inside.

That way you would have the stripes as a buffer between the two busier fabrics. I think that would look awesome.

I'm thinking of doing a Katie with these same fabrics--they are just beautiful. I'm also struggling with how many to use and in what combination.

I don't typically like prints together, though the idea of the kimono and the stripes is intriguing since they match so nicely.

I think I'll probably go with kimono on the top, stipes on the bottom, and stripes on the inside. I don't think I'd do all 3 personally.

My "less busy" option is to do kimono on the top, a solid (brown--maybe cordoroy) on the bottom, and stripes or umbrellas on the inside.
