Hi all! I received this last week and have taken some time to give it a good workout. :) I don't have pictures yet, but will post them sometime today.

If you're familiar with the Baby Sherpa, this is it's little sister.

EXTERIOR:
(1) Insulated, detachable bottle holder (fits Avent), zips shut (on one side)
(1) Mesh bottle/sippy/water bottle holder, open top (on the other side)
(2) small mesh pockets on sides (would hold a thin bottle/sippy)
(1) large mesh pocket on front with snap closure
(1) small zippered, padded pouch with depth and elastic mesh pocket inside (perfect of sunglasses, cell phone, small baby items, etc...)
(1) large back pocket, holds LARGE, padded changing pad
Lots of hooks and loops for attaching anything from pacis to sunglasses, or anything with a caribiner
Rubberized grip handle (not flimsy, it's hard) for a secure hold, no matter the weight of the bag
Extra padded straps (very comfy!)
Chest strap, to help disburse the weight
Hanging loop, nylon webbing loop for hanging bag
(2) Color options: Cobalt Blue or Black
(2) Strips of reflective tape sewn on

MAIN INTERIOR:
(1) Zippered pocket along back
(1) Big pocket (I can fit 2-3 outfits in there)
(1) Mesh, elastic pocket along front (also spacious)
(1) Key Clip
Two-way zipper closure, nice zippers and pulls too!
Water-resistant nylon, light grey interior (no black hole!)

COOLER COMPARTMENT:
Smaller than the Baby Sherpa, but still very generous!
Insulated with small drainage hole at bottom
Mesh pocket for holding ice packs, etc.
Will hold 7 cans of Coke + an ice pack OR 6 (size 4) diapers + Huggies Wipes pack

Overall, I love it. :) I already loved my Sherpa, but this one is a much more manageable size for outings, and it fits in my strollers' baskets. The overall design is definitely sporty, but it's so functional that I really enjoy using it. If it came in brocade, I'd be in heaven!!

I have the Cobalt Blue color. It has black accents and yellow piping. The overall design is a little more up-to-date, but still keeping it's "active" look. The smaller size fits better on my 5'2" frame, and I don't feel like I'm being eaten by my backpack. Which is always a good thing. :)

A few things I want to highlight:
- If you're annoyed by small, thin changing pads, you'll LOVE this changing pad. It's a large, tri-fold foam pad covered in nylon for easy cleaning. They were smart enough to put the changing pad on the back of the bag, which cushions YOUR back and keeps you comfy!
- The cooler compartment is perfect for snacks, EBM, bottles, etc. Once you use it, you'll wonder how you managed without it. When I'm not toting perishables, I keep all the diaper change stuff in there.
- It holds a lot! If you think it's too small, try packing it up. You'll be pleasantly surprised!
- Despite all the cool extras, it's lightweight.
- You can reduce the width by detaching the bottle holders
- You can also reattach the bottle holders to another bag or your stroller! I have it attached to my Zippy now. :)

Anyhow, feel free to ask any questions, I'd be more than happy to answer! I'll post some photos today!

Hi Mariana!

I'd LOVE to see pix of this bag. I'm in the market for something exactly like this for outdoor outings (zoo, outdoor festivals, etc.). It sounds wonderful.

ETA: Where did you get yours? Is it as expensive as the regular size Sherpa?

Hey Melissa!

I got it directly from the company. You can purchase it online at www.babysherpa.com. I think it's about $85.

I used it again for an outing this past weekend. We went to the pumpkin patch and on a hayride. This bag was perfect for that trip!

Would you by any chance post a picture of the regular sherpa next to the shorthaul? We've got a trip coming up that involves a lot of long travel and hiking, so I'm trying to decide which one to get to keep milk and snacks cold while we're out and about.

I think we'll just want the shorthaul, since we're underpackers, but we may want to go with the big one!

Thanks!!

No problem, I'll take them tomorrow morning in the sunlight though, because indoors the flash bounces off the reflector strips and makes the pictures look crummy. :) Would any other bag comparisons also help? I can do a Skip Hop, T&L, Alpha 7, Kecci...etc.

Mariana, if you wouldn't mind photographing it beside the Skip Hop, that would be VERY helpful!!! Thanks so much!

Thanks Mariana!!

I can't even tell you how helpful that was!!! I still don't know which one to buy, LOL, but I'm closer.

Since this is for a hiking/camping trip in CA, I think I'll go with the bigger one, especially because of the bungee cord clip for jackets, etc....

question: do you think the short haul is big enough for a four-day weekend trip on an airplane? we are looking for the best travel bag for air travel (trips up to 10 days long). we've used just our skip hop in the past but lucas is 11 months now and we need the cooler for his food, snacks, etc. i'm debating between the baby sherpa short haul or regular baby sherpa, or the lands end backpack or tote.
help!

I have the regular baby sherpa and I think for a trip I would take it...but it depends on how you pack....I don't have the shorthaul one to compair maybe mariana could tell you.

Thanks for the review....awesome pictures!!!!!

I think it really depends on the age of your kid(s). When my son was younger, we'd definitely need the Baby Sherpa for a long trip away. However, now as a toddler, we'd to fine with the Shorthaul Sherpa.

For an airplane ride though, I'd err on the larger side, so you have extra space if you need it. You can always trim down either bag by removing the detachable bottle holders on the side, if it feels too bulky.

Good luck!

Mariana-
Thanks for the advice. My DS is only 11 months so i think the larger bag might be better. Does anyone out there know of a good place to get a deal on the Baby Sherpa? I saw one person who said they found it for $39!

Thx.

I'd recommend checking Ebay, they end up there a lot. Otherwise, I'd check the Babybags Yahoo group for some resales.

It's funny, I've gone through COUNTLESS diaper bags over the past 2 years, countless. But the Baby Sherpa has been around the longest. It was the second bag I bought and I still have it, which says a lot for me! I think it's a great investment and is a super-functional bag.

Hope you love it!

Thanks, Mariana, for this great recommendation! I got the Short Haul, which is great! I especially loved the elasticized mesh pockets. Does your Short Haul come with a waist strap or is that only with the regular Sherpa? Thanks.
