Does anyone know why the membership rules for the DBD yahoo group were changed? It used to be be a member for 30 days/have 50 posts, now it is 60 days/75 posts. Thanks.

its 60 days/75 posts on BBB, not on the yahoo group.

I believe the reason for the change is for the "integrity" of the group. They don't want people to sign-up who they don't "know." The longer on here and the more posts, the better for the moderators/owners to know the people who are applying. Any number of days and/or posts seems restrictive to some, but to those of us running these groups, we need some sort of a policy to follow that we feel comfortable with..

I'm not a moderator or owner for DBD, but for BBB Homebiz which requires 50 posts, 60 days. I'm sure that the mods and owner of DBD will offer a more accurate response.

No further explanation needed - you are exactly right Julie!

So "they" no longer trust people who've only been on 30 days/50 posts, but they do 60 days/75 posts? Were there problems with letting people on too soon?

The DBD group was created by people who VOLUNTEER their time to get us great prices on diaper bags. "They" can set whatever rules they want. It is their group to run as they please because THEY do all the work to get these co-ops going.

As they are doing us all a HUGE favor, I really don't think we should criticize whatever rules they choose to institute. The DBD group runs very VERY smoothly and I never once seen anyone there complain about the time rules (new or old).

I would just like to say a big thank you to Ronda, Pricilla and Mariana for ALL their hard work with the DBD group. THANK YOU!!!!!

I'm not trying to be critical. I was wondering why the rules were *changed*. I was not saying that there shouldn't be rules in the first place. I was not complaining about anything. I was just asking a question. I don't think anyone should be offended by someone wanting some information.

Your first post sounded like you were seeking information, but your second post sounded critical to me. Perhaps that wasn't your intent -- we all know written words often can lead to misunderstandings as they do not convey tone, emotion, etc..

Another alternative is to email any of the DBD moderators directly for information on the group. This is easily done if you are a member of the group, or if you aren't yet a member, you can ask a question in your group application.

Hi!
I am not sure the *exact* reason Mariana chged it, but I feel safe to assume that she simply made it a little stricter so we *know* applicants EVEN BETTER than the original rules/requirement. It's certainly not because we suddenly didn't trust people with 50 posts but do with someone with 75 - thats not really the way we look at it. Does that make sense?

And FWIW, some of our members are very protective of us b/c we've had numerous complaints before, so I think Melissa was just trying to help :) And she is right, its hard to tell sometimes what the intent of a post is since its the written word.

Peace!

Well, darn! I just recently reached 50 posts and now it's 75? :( It's difficult posting when you have a newborn to take care of.

Yes, everyone on this board would agree since we all have kids and at some point they were newborns.

Hang in there ;) Right now there are no co-ops going on anyway and prob won't be any til mid Jan or so. You only need 23 more posts and I bet the one you just posted above didn't take you very long.

Times that by 3. I have 3 small kids to take care of. I chase after my 16 month and 4 yr old more now than I thought I ever would. How I envy the days when my son was a newborn and slept most of the day.

ETA:
Anyway, my point is, it's sometimes hard for all of us to find the time to post. There's nothing going on till Jan.

Me neither, but the more I read these posts, the more I am convinced that I need help finding a new diaper bag that fits ds's current needs, and it will be stylish too!
Getting it at a discounted price wouldn't be so bad either.
Maybe I could buy myself a new bag too!!!

Thanks for the link to join. I just submitted an application, but I forgot to pay attention to how many posts I've made.

Just to be clear, it's length of time *and* post numbers, not either/or. Right?

I recently tried to join and was denied. I have been here long enough but don't have enough posts yet. Does any body know what my chances are of getting accepted if I reapply after I make the post limit?

As long as you meet the 60days/75 posts, you are 99.99% guaranteed to be accepted...

Hi Holly,

We have no limits to the # of times you can apply - you just can't be approved before you meet the requirements ;) So just reapply once you hit the # of posts!

See you there soon!!!!

Re the number of posts required and the amount of time on the board required- are you counting posts and time on the Baby Bargains board as a prerequisite for the yahoo group membership, or is it the amount of time and number of posts on the yahoo board that count for the yahoo membership? Sorry if that's a stupid question. Thanks!

I just tried to join, I lurk here and rarely post as you can see from my 4 posts! The only co-op I have done is the Jack and Lily one. Anyway I am excited to start posting so sooner or later I will be able to join. I am a diaperbagaholic and my husband and pretty much said no more diaper bags but if they are a super good deal he'll understand...I hope so anyway ;-)
