PDA

View Full Version : Other than the Escape Pod, are there other changing pad "kits"?

I was at the RightStart today, and I saw they had a LARGE changing pad for bags, but just the pad.

Are there other kits to stow in the car or throw in my husband's backpack! :-) Or...even keep at grandmas?

I like the look of the Escape Pod, but I would be tempted to cut off the handles as I would find them annoying in the bag! Plus, the changing pad would probably be very small.

I thought I saw at BuyBuyBaby a car changing kit, but that's not what I'm thinking of... I want something that's an emergency kit... or convenience kit...

The Fleurville people CAN'T be the only ones who devised something, can they?

At Babies R Us they had a changing pad with pockets that flip off to the sides. One holds a wipes holder (included) the other could hold a diaper and a few supplies (small ones). It ran about $12. Personally I cut the pockets off and just threw the pad in the diaper bag. It is a pretty good size pad, and folded up nicely with empty pockets.

Actually the pad for the escape pod is pretty good sized, it is just nylon though. I never throw it in another diaper bag though, because it seems too big for that. I only use it for quick trips.

I really liked the BRU pad. Even though I don't carry it in the bag anymore, we still keep it in the car.

Wow! Now that's a changing station! :-)

Not quite what I'm looking for as it's not something I can throw in a smallish diaper bag, but an interesting idea nonetheless! People really do think of everything, don't they?

I think I saw something like this at BBB, but I wasn't quite sure of it yet... I'll keep it in mind and you're right... I can always "modify" it - especially if I only spend $12 on it!

Now how did you hear of these? These are interesting too! I just wish they weren't round as the only place you can change a baby and have it completely spread out would be the floor.

Well, maybe not - 24" and 30" isn't that wide... I wish I could see them IRL! While the internet is great, it does have it's limitations!

I'm bookmarking this site!

I saw something like this at Baby Depot recently. It was too big to be thrown in a smallish bag, but it might be okay in a backpack. If you can't find what you want, you could make your own kit by buying a changing pad, etc and a small bag to stash it in.

I use a drawstring nylon bag (I think from a Fleurville or Chester bag) for all my diapering supplies. Makes it easier to move from bag to bag quickly too.
In it i keep:
2 or 3 diapers for each child
smallish changing pad (or disposable one)
ziplic baggie with tube of A&D & mini bottle of Purell
ziploc baggie with those anti-bacterial wet nap thingies & band aids
empty plastic grocery bags (good for disposing of dirties or hauling back wet clothes)

I keep my wipes case separate usually because I am constantly wiping hands & faces and need it very accessable.

Here is my response to someone recently about the Escape Pod wanna-be I purchased. It is just a travel organizer from Walmart's cosmetic section. Holds enough to be a convenience kit that can be left somewhere or moved from bag to bag. I have also used large zippered clear pouches as "emergency kits" the best having come as the packaging from a JL Childress Stroller tote ( the stroller tote itself hangs off the back of the stroller), lol. The other thing I have used has been the changing pads with the pockets attached (Especially for you brand).
