Have they discontinued doing a backpack style? I have an eddie bauer backpack but I want something new for #2. I'll be carrying "stuff" for my 3 year old as well as diapering supplies for the little guy. Dh is all about having a backpack and the EB one slides off his shoulders for some reason and drives him crazy.

any suggestions for other brands. my main concern is it opening up well, changing pad and bottle pockets on the outside! I am thinking black or navy.

we'll be using it with a P3 and possibly a MBUD!

thanks ladies!

Funny you should ask. I contacted LE CS last night and asked if they were discontinuing the backpack. They said no, they were going to introduce new colors. However, the CS rep said the new colors would be in "in the fall" -- so I don't know if that means they won't be selling anymore backpacks until then once the ones on the Overstocks page are sold out??

Just so you know, the LE Backpack is HUGE! I had one and returned it b/c it was too big for use with a newborn (unless I wanted to put the baby IN the backpack, LOL!). It is also quite heavy, even when empty.

I phoned them as I was kinda hoping they WERE redesigning it -- ie., making it lighter.

I ordered it in red, it was backordered so not on the Overstocks page, but they did have it in. We used it for our vacation last week & it was a lifesaver on the plane. I love how big it is & we'll definitely be holding on to it for future trips! :)

Oh, and the red was not on sale, regular price, but $39 was a good deal I thought. ;) ETA: If you call them, they will tell you if they still have any black or navy available.

Thanks Ladies! I will put a call in to them tomorrow and see if they have any navy ones left. We are carrying a regular Jansport backpack now with a bunch of DS's stuff so I think the LE one will work well schlepping around all the necessities for two kiddos!

I saw this today, for $27.50 I don't think you can beat it, even if you don't use it all the time. :D

ETA, it's actually saying it's no longer available. I'd still call them to see though. ;)

Hi,

I had ordered the LE backpack in Claret over the weekend and I got it today! It is a really nice bag especially for $27.40. It is very big (which is good or bad depending on what you want to do), and is heavy when it isn't packed.

From the back to the front:

Well padded, ~3" wide straps.
Slit pocket for the changing pad. The changing pad is well padded with 2 zipper pockets in it for diapers and a small diaper case.
Each side of the bag has an insulated bottle holders.

1st main zippered compartment. No pockets in this at all. Just one big compartment. Lined in light blue which is great since the length of the bag would make the black hole effect very noticeable if it had a black interior.

2nd large zippered main compartment lined in light blue. It has a mesh pocket on the bottom front about 5" H and runs the width of the bag. The top back has a small mesh pocket about 5" H, runs the width of the bag, but split 1/3 way so there are 2 pockets.

Top front of the bag has a zippered pocket.

Bottom front has a slit pocket with velcro closures. This is where the parent pouch goes. The parent pouch is real nice. It has a main pocket with 4 little compartments for cell phones, pda, etc. and a leash. It also has an outside zippered pocket which has a divided mesh pocket. The parent pouch can be worn messenger or on the shoulder.

On top of the slit pocket in the main bag is a zippered pocket. In there is a mesh pocket split in 2, and a key leash.

I'm still debating whether or not I will keep it since it is so big. If I do, it will definitely be my airplane travel bag since I find my Kelty is perfect for outings, but was too small for the last airplane ride I went on with DS.

The claret is still in stock on the Lands End overstock page.

Here are some pictures.

1. w skip hop for size comparison
2. w kelty backpack for size comparison
3. the inside of the 2nd main compartment
4. the front zippered and slit pocket where the parent pouch lives
5. finally the parent pouch. Cell phone, wallet, small cosmetic case,
small notebook, and a small pack of kleenex.
