View Full Version : Ordered my LL Bean diaper bag today

I ordered the black with lime green diaper bag. Can't wait for it!

I also suggested to them that they add more colors to their line -- like a black bag with a hot pink/fushia (sp?) lining. And I suggested that they come out with a matching removable insulated bottle holder. So, if you see either of these ideas come to fruition, I'm takin' credit, LOL!

I got outbid on a VB bag on ebay yesterday. I think I do better with BIN actions -- I've never really gotten the hang of eBaying.

What VB were you bidding on? I lost out on one too, the price got too high for me. Hope we weren't bidding each other up!

I was bidding on this VB Betsy in Nantucket Red: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=6739594071&ssPageName=STRK:MEDW:IT

Was that the one you were bidding on? Sorry if I bid it too high. Sometimes I wonder if people know the retail price of these bags. I've seen them go for more than you'd pay in a store if you include shipping. Of course, there's no tax for most eBay stuff, but still....

Whew...I was bidding on a Blue Toile Day Out bag. They don't make this style or pattern anymore but I was still hoping to get a bargain. Oh well...next time! Glad to hear we weren't competing!

Post pics of your new LLB when you get it.

Happy waiting!

I had ordered the LL Bean and it took from 1/21 when I ordered it until today to arrive...they use some kind of combo Fed Ex/USPS shipping which takes forever. I was disappointed with the bag and so I am sending it back. (There's a pre-paid shipping label for returns, which makes it REALLY easy!) The "lime green" is actually more fluorescent IRL than it looks in pictures - too much for conservative little me!

It wasn't for me, but I hope all of you enjoy it! Just MHO.

The more flourescent the better for me -- I love bright colors to accent black! But, if the bag isn't what you want, it IS nice that LL Bean (and LE's too) are so great about returns.

That sucks that it took so long to get it. I went for the value (cheapo) shipping because I'm not in a hurry for it (heck, I don't even NEED it with the diaper bag posse I've got!). They told me 9-10 business days, which is fine by me.

So, are you still searching for a bag? Janie from Clutterbags has some nice bags on eBay right now if you like totes. http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQfgtpZ1QQfrppZ50QQfsooZ1QQfsopZ1QQsassZclutter bags

Her bags are really well made. I gave one as a Christmas gift to our doula and she LOVED it.

HTH

Were you bidding on this bag on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4353398163

If so, I think I outbid you. Sorry about that. I won't bid again if you want to go for it. I want one of her bags, but price isn't a huge factor for me -- I think they are worth what she charges for a custom order.

So, if that was you and you want the bag, go for it. I promise I won't bid again!! :)

Cheers

Melissa,

Yes, that was me bidding on ebay! You are so sweet to offer to let me have the bag. Are you sure you don't mind? It is so funny that you recognized my username! I had heard of clutterbags, and the retro floral print looks really cute, so I thought I could buy it, and if it's too bright for my taste, give it as a gift as well! (I am looking for something for our Labor and Delivery nurse, and what a great idea you gave me since you gave one to your doula...) Isn't it hard to buy stuff for people when you don't know their tast though? Hmm...

Hopefully no one else will swoop in on us and bid on the bag!

Thanks!!

Carol

I don't mind at all -- really!

That is such a good idea about a gift for your L&D nurse. I didn't get my act together to do that, but sure wish I had.

I hope you get the bag. I'm not a very good eBayer, I've lost out on a couple of Janie's auctions by people bidding at the last minute. So, I think her bags are pretty popular and people DO watch the auctions. That said, I think you can get some really good deals on her bags on eBay if you know what you're doing (I don't!). I believe that bag is $45 retail on her website.

I think that bag will be lovely, either for you or as a gift. Besides, if you got it and really hated it, you know where to find a buyer, LOL! ;)

FWIW, my doula absolutely ADORED her Clutterbag, and she is a rather unique person. Her nickname/business name is RedRose and I got her the red rose bag on Janie's website. It really was beautiful IRL (a touch more russet than the bluish red I like) and just WONDERFUL workmanship. Seriously -- I've very picky and I just loved the quality in the bag. I'm sure the black one will be just as well made.

Let me know how it goes and if there's anything I can do. If for some reason you can't outbid me (computer problems or something), we can just work it out directly with Janie (I keep in touch with her via email.).

If you liked the LL Bean Bag except for the lining, there is another option. The Large Travel Touring bag is EXACTLY the same bag except for 3 things--there is no changing pad, the lining on the black one is a light gray instead of a bright green, and it's $7 cheaper! It also comes in more colors than the diaper bag. I've only seen the black IRL, so I don't know what the lining on the other colors is. To see the exterior, look at the Spring Traveler catalog on LL Bean's website. Here's a picture of the interior color--I started a thread a few days ago called "Save $7 on LL Bean Bag" (or something like that, LOL) which has more details. The gray isn't quite as light as it appears here, but it's light enough to see the bag's contents easily.

Hey, you can't be the only one to take credit! I called them & told them I'd order it IF they came out with some better colors! lol ;) I have a girl for heavens sake...I don't want blue! And I'm not a black type of person...too hot in the summer in Arizona. For now, I will have to do without. But hopefully, if enough people request it, they'll come out with more colors!!! :D

Wouldn't it be great if they came out with a PINK bag??!! I thought that was too much to ask for. If they do, I'll definitely let you take the spotlight! :)

I've never owned so much pink in my life now that I have a baby girl, LOL!

Oops, guess I wasn't paying close enough attention! Someone outbid me while I was out with my toddler at her art class...sigh...oh well. I'm sure if I keep watching closely I can find something cute for a gift (or for myself, LOL!). No need to ask Janie yet - if I think of something specific I want, I can e-mail her off of her website too.

Thank you so much, and hugs to your daughter and doggie!!

;) Carol
