Powder Blue LL Bean Diaper Bag is on Back Order

I just went to order the blue diaper bag and it's on back order and won't be available until April 18th! I didn't want to wait that long to get my new diaper bag. So now I am wondering if I should just get the Large Travel Touring bag and just get a changing pad from another bag.

I just want to make sure that the Touring Bag is exactly the same as the diaper bag minus the chaning pad. Right??

The Large Touring Bag is exactly the same as far as style, pockets, etc. It just doesn't have the chaging pad. I had the black diaper bag w/ green interior & exchanged it for the black large touring bag b/c I liked the grey interior better. I do not know what color the interior is on the blue touring bag though.

I'm not 100% sure about the color of the interior of the blue travel touring bag, but I think it is grey.

As for the change pad, I was quite disappointed in mine (I have the black diaper bag). I took it out and use my trusty LE LT change pad. Or you could use a Huggies disposable pad.

I was really disappointed with this bag. DH and I drove up to LLBean the other day to specifically get it, but when we saw it, we hated it. It's just too small. I'm not surprised they are back ordered though, as they only had 2 in the whole store!

Thats kinda funny -- I think it is bigger than I expected, LOL!

I am liking mine more these days. It isn't pretty, but it is functional. It definitely holds more than my LE LT or Skip Hop. I think it would be a good carry on bag for travel too (so has a use post-baby).

I think I would order the Large Travel bag instead next time. I really wanted the lime green lining, but the change pad bites.

I felt badly when you weren't too thrilled with it!
I ended up exchanging mine for the touring bag & I am using my Little Tripper changing pad also....it fits in there great!!

I agree with everyone else - the changing pad is a joke. Not a big deal, as I use the Huggies disposables anyway. But I don't really get why they include it in the first place.

I can't believe it's on backorder! Wow!! To think that I was actually ahead of the popularity curve rather then behind like I usually am! :)

I've been extremely happy with it so far. I really love the organization, though it's definitely not the most attractive bag in the world. Oh well. Can't have everything.

I just ordered the LL Bean Diaper Bag in black. I checked out the Large Touring Bag after reading your post to see if there was a big price difference. I planned to change my order if there was because I only use Huggies disposable changing pads so I wouldn't need the changing pad included with the bag. I compared both bags when I found there was a $7 price difference and noticed that you lose the two small pockets on the outside of the bag. They show a binky sticking out of one and, I assume, the other will fit a cell phone. Those are important features to me so I decided to just get the diaper bag.

You do NOT lose ANY pockets with the Large Touring Bag (I promise!).
The picture they have on the website is the SMALL Touring Bag. If you order the Large Touring Bag the pockets are identical to the diaper bag. I had both the diaper bag & the Large Touring Bag here in my posession at the same time so I was able to compare them side by side. They are exactly the same except for the interior color & changing pad.

Actually I think that someone posted saying that the interior and exterior pockets on the large travel touring bag are exaclty the same. I think that the picture for the touring bag is of the small one. They don't show a pic of the large bag on the website. If you look at the small bag the dimensions are different, but when you click for the large one it's the same pic with same dimensions. If that made any sense at all..:)

I should be getting my large travel touring bag soon so I will compare the pics and post back. I also like the side pockets, so may be sending it back for the diaper bag if there aren't side pockets.

Thanks Newmom for clarifying. Now I won't have to send mine back, unless I don't like the interior color. I order the blue and am hoping that it's the same interior as the diaper bag. It was a darker blue. Very pretty.

Just to add something funny. I had a wierd dream last night that I got my bag excpet it was this huge duffle bag that was like 3-4 feet long with a huge strap. I guess I liked it b/c I put my stuff in it (and had lots of room to spare) and then took it to church with me. But it was a pain to carry. Wierd pregnancy dreams!
