I have not heard anyone give real life feedback on the new bag yet, so maybe that one. ;-) The newer one looks like it has more comfortable straps. It looks very tall though, and I am not sure how that will work for shorter moms (though the measurements are the same for height and width, lol). They have basically no description though, it is that generic at this point. The older one has the removable parent pouch (the new bag does not even though it is listed in the catalog as having one), and a great price. Overall LE bags are a bit heavy IMO but the many features and rugged construction make up for much of that. Good luck deciding. :-) I am so glad to see you expecting and can't believe how fast your pregnancy is going!!!

PS- Wanted to also throw out a couple more for you (and anyone else reading this in similar situations) who are looking for a backpack to hold enough for 2 kids. :-) I ended up with the Baby Sherpa, basically because with the amount that I carry for 2 kids (I am a very heavy packer) I was having problems carrying a backpack comfortably at all. All the heavier things were falling to the bottom, and all the weight was in one spot then. I had actually gotten ready to purchase an actually small hiking backpack instead when I got the Sherpa. It isn't my everyday bag though at this point since my older dd is in school.

I think I am in a very similar situation & I was about to post. I need a backpack diaper bag because we are traveling to China. I will be using a carrier in the front for baby and I think a backpack is the only viable option for a diaper bag. It has to hold a lot of stuff and I don't want to spend more than $50. I originally was going to order the LE one from overstocks, but you have me wondering... I may be too short for the new one.

Ideas? Suggestions?

If there is a Sears near you, you can always purchase both and return the one you don't want at your local sears store. Since there is only a $2 difference for shipping one vs. both, it isn't too much out of pocket to make sure you get the bag you want :-). I think it would be fun to do a side by side comparison :-).

Amy, we took the older version of the LE diaper backpack to China for Mia and *loved* it! It held everything we needed for the flights and the parent bag was my bag when I ran out while DH had Mia in the hotel. I carried Mia in a pouch sling a good portion of the time and DH carried the diaper bag.

I highly recommend that one. It's still the bag we keep in the car with spare outfits, diapers, bibs, beach towel, etc.

I used to use a backpack diaper bag with our Baby Bjorn, and I found it a little hard to get both sets of straps to sit comfortably on my shoulders. My backpack had heavily padded straps, which may have been part of the problem, but the backpack straps slipped a lot once I put them over the Bjorn straps. (When I wore just the backpack the straps were very comfortable and didn't slip.) As DS got older and heavier, it was also too much weight on my shoulders. I'm sure you can find one that will work for you, but my advice would be to try wearing the 2 together, even if you just stuff a bag of flour in the carrier, to make sure it's comfortable.
