I'm looking to get my 2 year old a bike helmet. I've seen good reviews on the Bell and Giro brands, but would love some advice on good models/brands. My son has a large head for his age (95% on growth charts), so I need something that won't pinch him. TIA!!

My dh just picked up a giro for $30 and it has an awesome adjuster and it looks like it will fit him for a long time (he's 2, 50% for head size, and he's wearing it towards the smaller size setting, were concerned it might be too big, but when he tried it on, it fit well). I've not seen bike helmets before (don't ride myself), so this may be typical, but the adjuster is a nob near the back of the helmet (where you would normally find the adjuster strap for golf hats) and you just turn this nob one way to make bigger, the other way to make smaller.

Thanks so much for the advice. Do you know which "model" Giro it was? If not, could you describe the print so maybe I could narrow down the model? There are so many to choose from!! Thanks again.

http://www.giro.com/main.html

it is the ME2, fits head size 18.5"-20.5"
the rodeo looks like it is same helmet, but for head sizes 19.75"-21.75" according to spec chart

here is a link to their spec chart, youth helmets are at the bottom

Great! Thanks so much for the info. Now, if I can only get my DS to sit still long enough for me to measure his head! Thanks again!
