I just received my Bumble Bags Jessica convertible messenger/backpack and I thought I'd share my opinion on it. My first impression right out of the box was very good! I immediately loved everything about it: the look and feel, organization, tons of pockets! And best of all: IT'S PRETTY!!!!!

Exterior Fabric: It's a heavyweight fabric that I believe has been pre-treated to repel water. The Circus print has stripes of pink, purple, fuchsia, ivory, brown and a khaki-like color.

Interior Fabric: If you're familiar with the Alpha 7 interior, it's similar to that. It's a thick, durable material. It's brown in the Circus which coordinates perfectly with the print.

Straps: Both the shoulder strap and backpack straps are removable and adjustable. I like that they are removable because they won't dangle and get in the way when not in use. The straps are connected to D rings which is very convenient for those people (like me) who like to clip bags onto the stroller with caribiners. They are brown to match the interior.

The size: The website measures the Jessica at 16.5" wide x 13.5" tall x 4" deep. This includes the side pockets. When I was shopping around online, I thought that by the official measurements, it would be very wide and bulky. It is not! (imo) In fact, the base of the bag measures 15" wide x 11.5" tall x 4" deep. When I took it out for an all day mall trip, I had it less than half full with 1 sippy, 1 water bottle, my wallet, cell phone, enough goldfish to fill a lake, 3 granola bars, 3 diapers, wipes and a couple of disposable placemats. I was able to put some of my purchases inside the bag since I had lots of room. This bag is not heavy empty so it stays nice and light when packed up. It's not floppy. It held its shape even thought it wasn't packed to the max.

Messenger: This is how I usually wear my bags and it is very comfortable to wear messenger style. It conforms to you and doesn't sit on your hip like a hard piece of luggage.

Backpack: I am not really a backpack girl but to wear it backpack style was comfortable but it felt just a tad on the wide side (appearance wise) to wear it this way for me. (a personal preference)

Pockets: Pockets, pockets, pockets!

*****Exterior: 1 side bottle pocket, 1 magnetic closure side flap pocket, 2 slip pockets on the back side of the bag

*****Interior: 2 slip pockets at back of the interior of the bag, 2 slip pockets in the zip down flap where the changing station is located. If you leave the changing station zipped, that serves as a huge pocket. LOVE this feature!

Changing pad: This is attached with velcro and folds up into the changing station. It doesn't make the bag bulky at all. The pad is washable in the machine. You can zip down the changing station and have all of you wipes and diapers within arms reach if you wanted.

What I'd like to see in the Bumble Bag Jessica:

An insulated interior bottle pocket and possibly vinyl covered fabrics. Although, everything has its pros and cons. Sometimes the coated fabrics bubble up, tear and wrinkle. But regular fabrics can get stained.....we can't have it all, right? <sigh>

A smaller version of the Jessica like the older Nicole so that I can reasonably say I *NEED* another Bumble Bag messenger.

Other than that, I am extremely happy with my Bumble and can't wait to try and review some of the other styles! :)

super review, Priscilla (as always :)!)...so happy you love it! It's really hard to combine a beautiful bag with function, but it looks like you found a real close one here...

I love the look of the bag - and the circus print is so pretty...enjoy it!

great review!!! i'm really glad you like your new Bumble Bag, Priscilla. i'm almost gonna have seller's remorse here. LOL!!

btw i showed my DH those photos. he blurted immediately, "hey that looks like our house, even the bench!" DUH!! it IS our house. LOL!! give him a break, he's kinda slow today after being under the sun too long doing yardwork.

oh he even reminded me to NEVER sell our denim Duo. that's his fave. LOL!

LOL! Yeah, I figured since I got your permission prior to posting them I didn't have to retake new pics for the same exact bag. Your pics are really great, too. My online buds are probably totally sick of seeing the same pics over and over, though, because I sent them all the links a dozen times each before it got here! LOL

I'll try and get some of me wearing it, too, if I can.

I am due in October and have been trying to figure out which diaper bag would work best for me. I don't like big purses, so I am guessing I won't like huge diaper bags. I was looking at the Loom Marsupial bag and noticed you have one of those- what are the pros and cons of it? Also, is the changing pad detachable on the Bumble Bag?

Thanks for the help.

There's a Nicole (retired) one NWT for sale on Babybags right now.

The Bumble changing pad is removable (velcro).

Those are Rej's bags. I bought her NWT Bumble. I had a Marsupial, though and it has great organization but it was a little too boxy for me.

that moss Marsupial is actually mine. i really like that bag, though i haven't used it lately. i have been using my denim Duo alot (now it's my ST).

anyhoo, here are my thoughts on my Marsupial...
** i'd say the best part of the Marsupial is its organization. i love all its pockets. i'm a little on the OCD side so this is definitely a good thing.
** insulated pocket (interior) -- that was a good feature for us...until my DD went on a bottle strike
** love the exterior side pockets. i never leave home without a water bottle. these are perfect for easy access
** changing pad -- one of my fav pads that come with baby bags. too bad my DH left that with our dirties bag somewhere. :-(
** well structured. sometimes i think it's too structured that it's not too "stuffable". i like how it could stand on its own.
** messenger straps -- it's a perfect length for me (i'm 5'2") but it doesn't work for my DH.

as far as the size, it wasn't big enough for me in the beginning. i'm a heavy packer. now that i'm beginning to pack a little less, i don't see any problems using the Marsupial.

with all that said, i actually listed the Marsupial on the swap board to fund my future baby bag purchases. ;-)

Thanks for the feedback! Do you mean the Yahoo swap board? I just joined that one, but haven't been approved yet!

Thanks for the review, Priscilla! I have wanted a Bumble for a long time, but got distracted by the many other bags out there! Now I want one again! :) It looks like the Jessica would be a good medium sized bag for me.
