Can anyone help me select a diaper bag for travel? I have been reading everyones postings here, but I can't decide. I guess I would like more info...

I have a bag that is large enough, but it is a tote style. I would rather a hands free style for travel and vacation. This summer, I will be at Disney & on a cruise, and I am hoping for a nice back pack or messenger. The PPB and Fleurville bags are not my style, but I am considering the Skip Hop Dash, the Loom Marsupial, and the Mustard Sprout Marshall. I am only packing for 1 child, but for a whole day. Any other suggestions??

I have just recently ordered another bag that might interest you. It is the Gozo USA Uno Diaper Bag. They also have a nifty looking backpack. These bags a little bit different in that they are designed and manufactured in the USA.
My Uno bag should arrive on Wednesday, so I'm hoping to be able to post a real review then. Here's a couple of pics and links in case you're interested.

Are you looking for something pretty? Because right away, when someone mentions travel, I think of the Baby Sherpa - it comes in two sizes. Very organized, comfortable, backpack style...Otherwise, the Dash sounds like a great bag. I have the Maruspial, and I would be concerned that it would be a little small for an all day outing - in addition, even though the ballistic nylon exterior makes it a great bag for spills, it's pretty wide, so going in and out of doors, hanging or placing in the stroller may be an issue. I don't have the Mustard Sprout, but one of the reasons I didn't purchase this right away was because I heard it was designed for a guy in mind, meaning that the bag may be a little big on most women.

A few others come to mind: the Posh Baby Ultimate Diaper Bag (convertible backpack/messenger and it's huge!), the Bumble Bag Jessica (which is slightly smaller than the Posh, but still would be great for one out all day), and the courierware messenger (www.courierware.com) - which has pockets for a more organized messenger.

Hi,

I also vote for the Baby Sherpa. I was at WDW last month and used the Baby Sherpa and just loved it! I carried my wallet, video camera, spare battery, film, digital camera, clothes for my DD, wipes, plastic bag (for soiled or wet clothes ) Toys on the toy loop, water, and snacks and food for the day. We had a big breakfast and then just snacked out of the Sherpa bag. A frozen bottle of water works great as a freezer pack.

We had everything in the Sherpa so didn't have to worry about leaving any valuables in the stroller. The backpack is water resistant and kept our cameras and gear dry at Splash Mountain!

Make sure if you load it up you use the sternum strap- it makes it much more comfortable to carry when you have a big load and it also works well to put on the stroller handles and do up the sternum strap to hold it in place. Be careful about tipping your stroller with the weight however.

We were stuck on the tarmac for 2 hours on our way to WDW so were also thankful that we had the Sherpa loaded with snacks and drinks, there is no food service these days on the airlines.

Safe travels,

Ami

Sara,

Have you gotten your bag yet? It looks interesting. I've also been contemplating the Dash (waiting for the velco redesign) and the Marsupial. I would love to hear how you like your new bag, especially if you have any input on how it might compare with the Dash.

Looking foward to your review.

Jen,

It's absolutely adorable and kind of a cross between the Dash and Marsupial. It has 2 pockets under the flap, 2 pockets in the main compartment, 1 pocket across the back (changing pad fits) and 2 external bottle pockets. Also, rather than the bothersome velcro it has a magnetic closure. The bag is very light in weight and does stand on its own. The main interior is the same color as the exterior and the flap is lined in a sunny yellow print.

Sorry for the short review, but DH just got home from work. Let me know if you want me to post pics later.

I'd like to see some pics if you don't mind. What kind of material is the bag made out of? I didn't see it mentioned on the website.

I was never a diaper-bag-gotta-have-it gal, but I saw & tried on the Loom Marsupial IRL today, and I LOVED it. Very comfortable on your shoulder. It contours to the curve. I looked inside and thought it would be perfect for a day out. I am only packing for 1 child as well and I think I may have to buy it.

HTH!

Here are a few pics. That bag is made out of a canvas type material and feels similar to Skip Hop. The pics make the fabric look shiny, but it's not.

Sara,

Thanks for the photos! I was just logging on to ask you for some but you gals beat me to it. :) Now if you don't mind, you'll have to post a few more photos once you try packing it. If you decide to start a new topic with a review (since I do feel a little guilty taking over this) could you also post a short note here so I'll know to look for it. :) Thanks again!

Were you able to find this bag to look at first IRL? I notice they are made in Boulder, CO and I will be in Boulder in a few weeks for a wedding, but it doesn't seem like they have any stores.
