View Full Version : Something to organize MY things??

I got my lovely PPB and though I adore the girly pinkness of it, I'm not thrilled with the set-up :( Not nearly enough organization pockets!! I need something small that I can organize my things into (lipstick, hand lotion, cell phone, wallet, etc) for easy finding. I'd prefer not to spend a ton since the PPB was more than enough for me! I'm so used to my ugly but practical baby trend backpack with a gazillion pockets - just wanted something a little prettier and not a "traditional" backpack! Makes me wish I was in Canada and could find one of those Walmart "mothership" or "alpha 7" knock offs and saved myself some big bucks!

I found something at TJ Maxx- Le Sportsac 7158 3 Zip Cosmetic.
http://www.lesportsac.com/external/accessories.html

I keep a few small things in it:
a small (2 oz. ) spray bottle of wipes solution
small tube of diaper rash cream
1 snappi for prefolds
a few cloth wipes

This has made the organization of my small things in the diaper bag much easier.
This particular model would be too small for your things, but something a bit bigger would work fine for you probably. When I was at TJ Maxx, I saw a ton of these small "cosmetic" bags that would work great, so maybe go over there and browse around.

ETA: I just continued browsing on the LeSportsac site. Most of the small "accessory" bags are pretty reasonable, so if you don't see anything at TJ Maxx, then many mid-to-high end department stores carry them.

I use cosmetic bags from Walmart to put smaller items in. I have one for eating out, with a disposable bib, burp cloth, wet ones, and a fork and spoon in it. Another for changing supplies, diaper rash cream dis. changing pad and a couple diapers. I also throw my wristlet in the bag for my items, a small wallet, coin purse, thin planner and cell phone.
The bags I use are clear and have white polka dots on them, kinda cute and cost like a $1-$3 depending on the size. This system has been working great since I like to change diaper bags so often and it's easy to move the bags over to the diaper bag of the week :)!!

I like to use cosmetic bags as well. I love the ones that Chester makes (www.chesterhandbags.com), because they're cute and waterproof. I also use the built-in PPB zippered baggie for my mom stuff. It's easy to unvelcro and remove for a quick run into the store. I find that my wallet fits into one of the ext. bottle holders, which I'm thrilled about!

I would just hit TJ Maxx and see what little cosmetic bags they have. You can usually find something cute for under $10.

Which PPB did you get? I got the Dynamite Roll and LOVE it!!!

I got the ginger roll - PINK! :) I'm going a bit overboard with girly things after being confined to blue, green and orange baby clothing for 2 years and keeping most things "neutral" for DH to use! ITA that my wallet fits into the bottle holder nicely and I'm currently using the zipper bag for my things but 2 things I dont like about that pouch-
1. heavier things in it pull that side of the bag down. DH's cell is old/heavy so when we're out and I'm holding his stuff the bag slumps down from the weight of it suspended in that pouch.
2. if I remove the pouch the rough velcro is exposed and catches on extra outfits or worse yet, CUTE FLUFF!!! Thinking of getting some velcro to have an extra strip for over the rough velcro when I remove the pouch.
I love the idea of having multiple little bags for organizing things! I'm off to Target today and may just have to pick up several!

I am loving my new PPB too, especially all that space! It's huge, and I love that. We recently started CD-ing, and I can carry everything for a whole day out...love it. I even got to use the whole fold-out changing pad the other day, and even my husband commented on how handy it was. Although, it still hasn't hit him that this is a new bag. :)

Could you also use a couple wet bags for organization? That way, they could serve double duty in a pinch. :) This site makes some smaller "wipe size" wet bags that may be perfect. http://www.granolamoms.com/products.htm

Tell me about these. I remember a thread long ago that compared the various ones but I wasn't in the market so ignored the info...

Mine were from Walmart but you can get them so many places, but the ones that I have are clear with white trim and one white polka dot in the middle of the bag. I have a couple of those in different sizes. I also have a couple Chester Cosmetic bags and a T&L cosmetic bag. I also have some mesh bags with zippers from One Step Ahead which work pretty good too but only if the inside of your bag is not black.
Like a pp said TJ Maxx usually has a bunch of cute ones too. I think this makes packing and unpacking your bag so easy. Also makes finding things in the bag you are using super easy too.

I found the greatest little mesh zipper pouches at Target! You get a set of three in varying sizes. The have a red/blue combination and an orange/pink combo. They are in the school supply dept and are not cheap. I love them - the 3 sizes are great and I like the mesh because you can see what is there.
