Hi Everyone,

I was checking out the skip home duo colors and came across a product they have called the pronto? Never heard of this. Does anyone have it or has seen it IRL? I like the pattern on the pad! It's very cool. Seems like a nice size.

I haven't downloaded my pictures from my camera yet, but here's a "teaser" review. :)

Honestly, I love this little thing! The concept is similar to Fleurville's Escape Pod. It's the same material as the canvas Skip Hop bags, except the changing pad which is a laminated cotton, backed with canvas.

It has one mesh pocket with a velcro closure to hold diapers. This pocket is a great size, and I can fit two size 1 and a size 5 diaper in there. For my fellow CDer's, it would also hold a Fuzzibunz.

The next pocket holds the adorable red Skip Hop wipes case and has a zipper closure. You could also stash a few small items in there...thin diaper creme, hand wipes, diaper baggies, etc. There is also an adjustable wrist strap attached to this pocket. The wrist straps can be adjusted to be longer or shorter, and it fits very easily over my hand, hanging well on my wrist. The wrist strap has a snap buckle on it, so you can hook the whole bag to your stroller or shopping cart.

Next is the zipper-detachable changing pad. Left attached, the changing pad is "south" of the wipes pocket, so your wipes are close at hand. The changing pad is a FABULOUS size! It's is long enough for me to use with my 36" toddler (not full length of course). It's also a great width so that Atom's flailing newborn arms won't hit any "unclean" surfaces. It's not padded, but I wouldn't expect that of a portable changing kit.

You fold the whole thing up and secure it with a handy buckle (think a smaller version of the stroller buckles on the regular Skip Hop diaper bags). There is a zippered pocket on the front of the changing kit that can hold your wallet, cell, etc. It's definitely wide enough for a checkbook, with plenty of room to spare. For handy toting, there is a small tote handle in addition to the adjustable wrist strap.

A few things that I really like...
[li]all the zippers a chunky plastic zippers, no harsh metals
[li]cute Skip Hop logo zipper pull on outside pocket
[li]detachable changing pad to lighten the load
[li]wipes pocket is waterproof, to protect against leaks
[li]little velcro usage, just two places have velcro
[li]great overall size, much longer and a tad taller than the Escape Pod when folded up
[li]gender-neutral design for moms and dads
[li]attaches to strollers
[li]coordinates perfectly with the rest of the Skip Hop line

That's about it! I think it will be priced around $30, which to me is a great price. It's easier for me to shell out $30 for a changing kit, as opposed to $50 other kits. Two thumbs up! I look forward to hearing everyone else's opinions on this kit!

Thanks Mariana! That's a GREAT review! I'm really excited about this...we mostly do "quick trips" and I really didn't find my escape pod all that useful. Awesome review...and I can't wait to see pics! ;-)

I *really* like that!! I bought the Gold Flower Escape Pod recently, just to keep in my van for emergencies, and I'm lucky if I can stuff two diapers and the wipe case in there along with a small tube of diaper cream. On Skip Hop's site, it says it holds up to four diapers. Is this true? I also like the detachable LARGE changing pad, as it would be nice to put something under his bottom and over the top of the freezing cold leather seat. I normally carry around the Huggies disposable changing pads (I could cry that they discontinued them!!) because of the ick factor, but since this would be staying in the van permanently, the large changing pad would be really nice. Can't wait to see pictures!!

Great review as always, Mariana! :) It sounds just like what I've been looking for. Especially the fact that it is a Dad friendly design.

Thanks Mariana!

"same material as the canvas Skip Hop bags, except the changing pad which is a laminated cotton, backed with canvas."

How would you compare it w/ the Patemms? Is there pvc in them do you think? I know the Patemms do, and that's the main thing i don't like about them. Also, dd slides all over them.

Oh, do they fit in the SH diaper bags? (I have the dash and duo)

Thanks again!

I haven't been in here in a while and now I remember why. I stopped visiting after I got my Escape Pod (which sits in my car, on the floor, unloved) and now am drooling over this Pronto.

I have a question for those who have it:

how does it compare to an escape pod? bigger? smaller? more user friendly?

and Mariana, I hate to ask, but do you have any interior pics available? For $30 I may just get it!

Mariana:

Skip Hop says that the mesh pocket will hold 4 large diapers. How tight is it? Do you think it would hold 1-2 (preferably 2) large cloth prefolds?

TIA,

I saw the Pronto in Buy Buy Baby this weekend, if anyone's near one of those and wants to see it IRL. Unfortunately DS and DH were rushing me out, so I only saw it from a distance.
