I'm looking for a good backpack for hiking with our baby. Any recommendations?

Do you mean a backpack backpack-styler diaper bag? The most impressive one i've seen is the Baby Sherpa (see babysherpa.com). It looks really neat, but I didn't think it was worth the $$- a regular hiking backpack would probably work fine.

Do you mean a child carrier backpack? If so, we have a Kelty KIDS model and it's adjustable in nearly every possible dimension. I'm 5'5" and my husband is 5'9" (both average build) and it seems to fit us just fine. We've only done level walks with it so far, but it is comfortable.

You'd be better served by doing a search in the Carriers forum - there's been a lot of discussion about this topic over there. If you don't find what you need, post this question again there.

That being said, we like our Tough Traveler. If money is an issue, I'd suggest looking on EBay for whatever brand you go with- these things rarely get heavy use so you can get almost-new items there for a lot less.
