View Full Version : What do you use for a changing pad?

Do you use the disposable ones? One that came with your bag? Or, perhaps you have one of those all-in-one pads that also hold wipes/diapers (like a skip hop pronto)? Why do you use that type of pad?

Mostly, I'm just curious.

I have all three kinds and so far which kind I use depends on which bag I have. But, I just got a new bag and I can't decide what type of chaning pad to pack in it. The one that came with it is an all-in-one pad and its huge. (Too big, IMO.) I'm really liking the idea of using an D/W or Ida case but I'm not too fond of disposable pads.

I use disposables- either a huggies or one of those incontinence pads from the supermarket (for older people). I rarely change DD when out and about (just the way our schedule works out, she generally poops at home!) unless she poops or is soaking wet. And I am a light packer and like smaller bags, so I don't want to use a big bag just for a giant changing pad, kwim?

Since I usually change diapes in the car on the seat, I use the pads or mats in my bags a lot of the time. Really though, we are not out so long that I usually even need to change the dipes while out, but when DS was younger and I was out all day, I liked using the Huggies disposable mats when I used non-dipe bags and my LE one when I used my LT.

99% of the time I use our Patemm pad, I absolutely LOVE it!! It's large & circular and covers everything so that I'm confident DD isn't going to reach out and grab something yucky (squirmy little 10 mo olds will reach out & try to touch EVERYTHING when you have them laying down trying to change a dipe!)

The Patemm fits in almost all my diaper bags, except my OCC messenger. If I take that bag out & about, I use a large reversible chenile/nylon waterproof changing pad that I bought that rolls up. Soft on one side & leakproof on the otherside so no leaks.

HTH!

I'm probably in the minority here, but once ds got old enough to not have diaper blow-outs all the time, I just kept a spare blanket or two in the back of the car to change him on. I'm talking slightly larger than receiving blanket size, but something with a tiny bit of padding that I could just use a few times, and then throw into the washing machine.

I loved the Huggies disposable ones! Large size and thick padding. Confession: I didn't get rid of it after each use though. If the changing table area was clean, I would reuse it for the day since it cost about $1 each.

I also used a small blanket as one of the PP did sometimes. Or I carried a Carter's water-proof pad with me. They look like this:

I really like these water-proof pads.
