I have a Skip Hop, but want a backpack or messenger or sling-type bag to use as a combo diaper bag/daypack for travel. Something that will be comfy to carry when we are sightseeing with DS in a backpack carrier instead of the stroller. My Skip Hop is great for attaching to my stroller, but akward to carry as a messenger bag when full. I want something stylish, but that my husband will also want to carry. I like the look of the Eddie Bauer Medina backpack at Target (grey, urban- looking), but it seems so large. The smaller version of this bag (Mini) is more like a messenger style and I really like it but it seems a bit small. Anyone have the mini Eddie Bauer from Target? How much stuff can you get in it? Any other suggestions? Also, I want to stick to $50 or less. Thanks!

This is going over your price range ($120), but I just ordered the Men's JuJube Messenger Bag, in orange and tan. Jen from Expressive Toys gave it a great recommendation. I know my husband will be happy to use it, and there seems to be a lot of pockets. There are great pics on her website. Once it arrives, I will report back.

Have you seen the land's end convertible backpack? Not very large, but it's super cheap. Also it doesn't seem to have much organization but it still looks interesting!

I received the JJB Men's Messenger last night. It is stylish but sporty. My husband really liked it as. Definitely on the larger size (bigger than the Skip Hop) with good pockets. It doesn't look like a diaper bag, and looks awesome with my P3 in Hip Hop. I don't think it will be my every day diaper bag, but will be reserved for travel or full day outings.

Well, it is over your price range, but I like LeSportsac's Deluxe Everyday Bag:

Others have had good things to say about the LSS Deluxe Messenger:

I think if you get it in a solid, your DH would carry it. These bags are very lightweight and very stuffable. The adjustable shoulder strap on my Deluxe Everyday easily fits on my stroller handles.

ETA: They also have a backpack:

Somebody had bought the deluxe messenger from the Lesportsac outlet store for much less but the colors are from last season. If you don't have one near you, I was told that they do phone orders too. I have been thinking about it but have not taken the plunge.

There's a LSS outlet in Woodbury Commons in NY. Each time i've been in the store everything is 50% off retail.
