Has anyone compared these two bags IRL? I can get the original style for less money, and I'm wondering if it is lacking much that the new style offers. TIA!

I have an original style Be Small. IMO - the biggest difference is the strap. The original does not have an adjustable strap while the new one does. The changing pad is also smaller on the original and there are no stroller clips. I think that's it. If you can get past the non-adjustable strap, the original is a great deal.
